christi jones reviewed Lake Blanche Trail

Loved this hike. It was pretty easy at the beginning. I did the first mile in under 30mins. Then it just got progressively harder. There were rocky sections off and on, which makes for a tough trail. It took me about 2 hours and 10 mins to get to the first lake and about an hour and 30 mins to hike back down. I clocked it as 3.7 miles from the parking lot bathrooms all the way up to where you see lake Blanche. It’s 4 miles if you make your way to the third lake.
I saw a deer, but sadly no moose. I brought bug spray, but never used it. I think if you are there early in the morning or in the evening you would probably need it, but late morning through the afternoon you should be fine without. I would consider the trail fairly exposed, depending on the time of day you go. I was in full sun most of the way down, which was around 2/3pm.
    Have fun out there!!

This was a nice trail. Some ups and downs, but mostly flat. I went on a slightly rainy Sunday morning and I never saw a soul, which was lovely. The leaves are beautiful on the hillside, but sadly you can see them much from the trail as most of it is fairly wooded. Would be a great hike for kids.

From the parking lot this is really only 3/4 mile. Lots of steps/stairs. Beautiful fall leaves and the waterfall is super cute. There is a part where you can scramble up the hillside and get a great view of the valley. Totally worth the short hike for the waterfalls and changing leaves.

I thought this was a pretty good trail. I brought my little dog with me. We enjoyed the paved path more than the gravel one. First there are a lot of big dogs running around free and getting in your business and second I was worried about the gravel on my dogs paws since she is only used to grass and cement. Other than that I thought it was beautiful. Great views of the mountains and lots of green trees still!! I would definitely go back.

This hike was amazing. The views from the top were totally worth the climb. Even along the way the views were awesome. We got to see a moose and 2 deer...we were up there before the sun was fully up. If you are out of shape this will be a hard hike, but otherwise I agree with the moderate. We passed our turn off and had to back track a bit. There is no sign and there is a log across the trail, so we didn't see it. Watch for it. It's at the top-ish and goes off to the left up higher to the peak. I would definitely do this hike again. In a few more weeks the fall trees will be amazing!!

I feel like I have kind of become a trail snob because I have gone on so many hikes this year that I am more picky than I normally would be, which is why I only gave it 3 stars. This trail is very steep. Pretty much straight up the hill side. You gain most of the elevation in the first 1/2 mile and it's also really rocky in places. That being said, since the steepness is a short distance it's not that bad. I saw a family with really little ones and they made it to the top. Although I wouldn't recommend taking really little ones as they could trip over the rocks and hurt themselves. I also think coming down is a bit dangerous in spots. I personally had to take fairly small steps and almost slid at one point because of the loose rocks and steep decent. The trail should have been made as switchbacks up the hill so that it was safer. The lake was nice and I bet the wildflowers would have been amazing a few weeks ago. When I got up there (labor day morning at about 9am) there were quite a few people...including yelling and screaming children, so I would recommend going early if you want to avoid the loud family crowds. I did the whole loop around the lake, which gets fairly overgrown. It was about 2.1 miles with that loop. Took me just over an hour.

This is a hike to a beautiful and large lake, but the last .2 mile or so is really dangerous. I went down on the left trail and up on the right and both are terrible. Not safe for little children at all. They need to redo this trail so that it is safer. Switchbacks or something would be better than just going straight down and straight up.It's also really loud at the lake. Lots of people swimming, which I don't mind, but it's all the streaming and yelling and barking that bother me. Wish this was further off the road so that maybe not so many people would come.

The aspens at the beginning of this hike are so amazing! The rest of the hike is nice, but not all that exciting. The lake was a little lackluster to be honest. Still nice, but I don't think I would do this one again. There are others I like more. I gave this 4 stars because the trail is well maintained and there are signs everywhere, so you cannot get lost.

This is a service road, not a "trail" I only did part of the hike because I HATE service road hikes. It was pretty though.

I only gave this 3 stars because the "trail" is really just a service road and I'm sorry but that is very different from a trail. The view from the top is beautiful though. Parking is very limited because of Blood lake Trail across the street, which is very popular. Go early, this is a very exposed hike.

I clocked this as 2.7miles. That was just to the edge of the lake and back. This was a really peaceful hike. I didn't see anyone on the way up. Only one couple was camping at the far side of the lake. On the way down I saw 2 groups and this was by noon. So if you go in the morning I think you will miss most people. Or maybe I just got lucky. The trail is very well maintained and easy to follow. Would totally do this one again.

So this is only 3/4 mile to the lake. If you walk around the lake then you can clock more miles. It's definitely kid friendly. The terrain is mostly rocks and small boulders, which is not my favorite, but there was still a lot of green. The lake is one of the most beautiful I have seen. I walked around the right to the far side and I could have just stared all day. Wonderful views! Quite a few people camping and fishing. Best to go mid week after summer vacation.

I searched everywhere for this trail and could not find it! I started on the trail for the lake right by the road and followed it to the left toward the campsites and then just wandered through the woods off trail trying to find any kind of path to no avail. I gave up after like 15 mins of searching. Very disappointed that there weren't any signs or distinguished trail leading to the other lake.

This is such a beautiful hike!! Saw lots of deer and a moose. We went pretty early and didn't come across anyone until we were almost done. So go early if you want to avoid people. (we started the hike at 6:30am on a friday)
