I believe this was my first hike when I moved back to SLO COUNTY and was living in Los Osos. Not for the faint of heart and definitely bring lots of water. It goes way back so best to hike with a partner and bring a phone just in case. Moderate inclines and great views once you get up in the mountains.

The last hike of my SLO County days and offers a pretty scenic view. The trail itself isn't maintained and is really steep and loose in some spots initially but improves once you get up to the top. From what I saw it goes all the way down to pirates cove. Parking isn't available so you have to find a spot in the nearby neighborhood.

One of the most physically challenging but rewarding hikes I've ever been on. Take a good 45 minutes to an hour to get up to the peak but totally worth it. Inclines are moderate but it's a journey as there's boulders to traverse and uneven ground at times. The rock formations up top are amazing and the views are second to none. Highly recommended. Bring water, a snack and make sure you wear good hiking shoes or boots.

Been down this trail 3-4 times. Really neat place to go to the beach.

Part of the trail you take to get to Bishops Peak and also the trail you take to the rock climbing section they have up there. Moderate traffic and inclines, trails are maintained well for the most part. Lots of switchbacks, decent views.

What an amazing hike. Probably the most physically challenging one I've taken ever in SLO County. Not as steep as Cerro Alto but feels longer and is arguably higher. The rock formations alone are worth seeing and the views from them are even more amazing. Truly a special and unique place and I would recommend it to anyone, although you have to be in decent shape to make it all the way up and wear good hiking shoes or boots and bring water.

Some of the best views in the county can be seen from up there. Not the easiest place to access, but if you can drive up to the peak, it's worth it the dirt road you can take for miles if you wanna drive and explore further. Lots and lots of mountain bikers up there. Probably more so than any other spot I've seen. Definitely worth checking out. Very quiet and peaceful. Just beware of poison oak as it's everywhere up there. Highly recommend it.

Not a long hike but is moderately challenging with the switchbacks, incline and poison oak dodging. Beautiful view once you get up there, especially if your old enough to climb the rock (although it's prohibited) ;) Great hike with minimal effort and easy to access.

Used to go here from time to time when I was going to Cuesta College. The hike up to eagle rock is fairly challenging but nothing too difficult. Great views from up there. Otherwise it's a pretty flat trail if you stay in the paved road. Is sandwiched in between the Dairy Creek Golf Course and California National Guard Training Grounds. Careful of poison oak as it's everywhere out there. Beautiful and peaceful place to go clear the mind.

I used to go down here when I lived in Los Osos. Easy trail that borders the estuary. Just watch out for Poison oak. Moderate traffic and is always cool.

Short loop trail that I've taken my boys on a few times. Very easy hike along the beach and is always cool and breezy. Anyone of all fitness levels will enjoy this trail.

One of the first trails I ever hiked in SLO county. Moderate inclines and great views once you get up high enough. Would be a great place to mountain bike, walk dogs or just hike. Loop is fairly long so bring lots of water. There's even a spot where you can rock climb and classes are offered. Right next to the Estuary so it's fairly cool, with occasional dog if you're out there during certain times of the year. Overall a cool hike and recommend it to all age groups.

Probably my favorite trail I've had the chance to trek in SLO County. The most challenging physically and only recommended for higher fitness levels, especially if you're planning on hiking up to the peak. I took my bike up to the top and it was pretty savage, but the views are utterly amazing. I could see from Guadalupe all the way to Ragged Point. Easily the greatest ocean view I've ever seen. The ride down was an adrenaline rush to say the least but oh so worth the push up the peak. Lots of cool nature views, creeks, etc. I even saw a horny toed lizard when I was up at the peak, which I did not expect or even knew existed out there. Just an amazing place to hike. Be sure to bring at least $10 with you for parking as the county charges to park

Dirt trail that encircles Atascadero Lake. Most people access it from the Park. I've jogged it a few times. Probably a 1.5 mile loop altogether, if that. Totally flat and easy to navigate. Traffic is moderate. The view of the lake is decent and there's benches every so often. Good place to jog or walk your dogs.

Beautiful scenic hiking trail that was right along the ocean. Easy to access, not too long and was a real joy to complete the loop. Traffic is moderate but not too bad. Benches every so often, history boards at the beginning of the trail and keeps cool with the ocean breeze.
