we did this hike today and it wasn’t too bad. it was pretty easy as far as the trail goes, but then the elevation was kind of an issue when you got asthma. nothing a puff can’t fix tho jaja.

the wind was wicked at the summit so we didn’t spend a lot of time there. the views were worth the work and dealing with so many people.

I hiked this today and it was an alright hike. Throughout the trail, you'll be walking along the creek which is nice, calm sound to hear it on the way. If you're looking for a city or meadowy view, this isn't much for it. This is more about the experience of the hike but no spectacular view at the end. I would rate it as easy and pleasant - perfect for kids and dogs on a leash. There was some snow on the ground and a dog that wasn't on a leash ran past me and bumped me on an icy spot - maybe people shouldn't let their dogs roam unleashed when there's other people around with icy patches along the trail. :/

we hiked this in august 2015. it was our 10-year colorado residency anniversary. it was a beautiful hike. we got started right before daylight without any headlamps as we allowed our eyes to adjust to the terrain and light we had.

i did this with my family - my husband and two teenage kids. we packed lots of water and change of clothes, socks, and rain jackets in case we encountered rain or stormy weather (thankfully we finished before storms rolled in). we wanted to be off the mountain by 12 and we did, so it wasn't bad.

we stopped at bar camp and had a snickers bar and a gatorade. the people working there were kind and welcoming.

after tree line, we someone lost the trail for a bit and found ourselves on some scree. we were still headed north but not on the trail... idk what happened. then a little later we found the trail again and continued up.

i loved this hike and the views that came with it. it was all of our first 14-ers.

we did this hike yesterday and we loved it! it's so beautiful right now as everything is green! i wish it was a little longer but i guess 5.5 isn't too bad :)

i love this trail. i'm training for marathons and this is perfect for my long runs. i love that it's very shaded and runs along the creek. there are some open areas throughout the trail but it's not too bad as soon you'll find yourself in some shade again.

there is heavy bicycle traffic and some riders aren't as courteous as others, so watch out for them. i only wear one ear bud so i can be vigilant of my surroundings (transients, etc.) and can hear people coming up behind me.

we hiked this this past weekend. the trail was "easy" as in no technical aspect to it, but a lot of it is past tree line which can make it difficult for some. the only icy areas we encountered were past tree line and along the two false summits.

the views make it ABSOLUTELY worth all the effort.

this is a nice, short trail. looks like there are two parking areas, the first one is soon after you come into the park. that specific one is the lower-end of the trail. if you continue to drive up, you will see a little parking area at the top of the trail. we parked at the top and wished we had parked at the opposite, so that we could end the on a downhill note rather than uphill. it's not all that steep, so I guess either way works :)

I ran on this trail when I was training for my half marathon, late last year. I would come here when I had greater distances to run as it runs very far north and south. I really like the trail. it's pretty flat for the most part with only a few, little moundy hills. I haven't been here since December, but at that time I was ok for civilians to enter the AFA part of the trail. This is not allowed, for now, since the nation's security level has been raised to "elevated.

This is a very nice trail. you're walking along the creek that the waterfall makes. there isn't much shade, so if you wanna stop, take advantage of the shade you do come across as you go.

it's a lot of ascending, so that made it a nice little workout.

we came across groups with trekking poles who were just cruising and didn't mind us (my sister and I), so I had to ask them if we could pass them to the left and then continued on. :)

overall, great hike with beautiful views and a nice, cool waterfall to make it all worth it in the blistering sun :) we were lucky to have an occasional cloud and then unlucky to have some rolling thunder, but just in time for us to run all the way down.

I went on this trail a couple of times last year. it's an easy walk for the whole family. a lot of this area is burned but it's still a pretty site.

I've done this many times, including today. I hadn't done it since they reopened it in December. the renovations are nice, it actually smells like a new house being built because of all the wood they've put in, lol. it's still challening but I don't think it's as bad as it was. it's nice not to have to be on your hands for the little bit anymore tho. I've gone down the incline once because I was short on time and figured it'd be faster than the 3-mile trail down. it was scary for sure cause if you miss a step and are going down, you're screwed! the trail down is nice tho. I run it and it's really not that long.

challenging yet rewarding once to the top, with the besutuful views of the vineyards and mesas!

the trail starts out pretty challenging. you're going up the hill at a very steep incline. it's a narrow trail and it's sandy. I saw people slipping as I was going up and they were coming back down. after that it's just rocky and kinda sandy but nearly as bad as the beginning.

once you're at the top, it's a great feeling and beautiful! then it's a bit tricky to come down. it's very rocky in areas, too. I slid a couple times in the rocky areas. I tied my water bottle to the sweatshirt I had around my waist cause I wanted to make sure my hands were free in case I fell or needed to grab a boulder for support while coming down.

I would do this again, as I enjoyed the challenge and the views.
