Made the mistake of starting this trail during the hottest part of the day in July. This hike is no joke! We had to turn around half a mile from the summit as we didn’t Bring enough water and one member of our group was getting very ill. One member of our group did make it to the top and said the views of the sun setting into the mountains that stretched far into Canada were absolutely stunning.

People definitely need to take this trail more seriously. I was shocked to see how ill prepared groups of hikers were for this trail- wearing black jeans and carrying NO WATER!
To get to the higher tier of the falls, expect some serious scrambling. Definitely would NOT recommend for dogs and children.

We started late in the afternoon on a Sunday and reached the top just as golden hour started. Most of the crowds were gone and we only shared the summit with a handful of others. Fun photo op with the “chip” AND great views.

Expect to wait in like for a photo op... short and easy hike and beautiful. Just know you won’t be in peaceful solitude.

Moderately easy hike if you start before the heat of the day. Great way to see the beauty of JT! Highly recommend, especially if you only have enough time for 1 hike during your visit.

I’d recommend saving this trip until you’ve checked conditions to make sure the waterfall is running. And don’t forget your permit! There was a ranger there checking everyone’s. The water is cold, but worth the dive in on a hot day.

This trail was my first time being close to Mt St Helens and I was stunned at how beautiful and up close and personal it was! I did this hike in September. The trail is exposed so bring more water than you expect. A lot of ups and downs! View of Helens are constant, but the final grand view with spirit lake in the foreground is definitely worth the work.

For only a 20 min ride outside of downtown, this hike has a great payoff. Views into the mountains and of the urban San Diego area make this a great hike for people who may be visiting. Tends to be crowded though...

Would be better with snowshoes, but still short enough of a hike to do with boots. On a clear day, this view of and closeness to Mt Rainier can't be beat! Great for families!

Joined this trail from the upper trail head, making it just over 3 miles round trip. The trail starts trekking atop a ridge line, then a stack of switch backs that eventually becomes stairs for the majority of the trail (summer route). I would not recommend this hike for all ages. The views at the top are phenomenal, especially looking into the Olympics.

was looking for a quick little hike close to town, this was perfect. was relieved to see the doggie station at the trail head, as I had forgotten to bring my own baggies. the small beach at the end is pleasant, and the tunnel makes for a cool photo! the trail was clean except for the irresponsible dog owners who just left their bags of dog poo on the side of the trail in a pile...
