Casey Alvarez reviewed Coy Bald Trail

We took the Long Creek trail that is a part of this system. It is a much shorter hike with rocky terrain, fallen timber, beautiful views, places to camp, and an exceptional finale of stunning bluffs and a winding stream to play in. Going down a steady slope going in and hiking up a gradual, steady incline on the way back out. Approximately 3/4 of a mile total hike, but plenty of options to walk around the bluffs and stream to explore.

We've hiked this trail twice in the Walnut Grove area this year. It's a pleasant hike...definitely easy and family-friendly. There's a cool wooden swing, a nice wooden bridge you can stop to eat lunch at...and plenty of great views. Much of the trail has a canopy of trees over it so it often stays cool even during the hotter months.

Good hiking trail, a lot of diversity in terrain and in views, which makes it fun. This trail is not very well marked and it is easy to get lost. Using a map is suggested or go with someone who is familiar with the trail. While hiking this trail, it is advisable to be on the lookout for bikers. We had a couple close calls but if you pay attention, you'll be fine. Our dog loved this trail and had fun taking a break to swim in the river.

Lots of options on this hike, you can hike through this area without taking the steps but taking the steps is an adventure. They are definitely a workout, but doable if you allow yourself to take breaks when needed. This can be a scary hike for someone afraid of heights. The views are great and this is a park that has very easy access. You'd never know you were in the middle of Branson! If this hiking area had more rails on the steps (some parts were without rails) and if the waterfall was not dried up, I would have given it a 5.
