Carol Cotton reviewed Hidden Falls Trails

Nice trails. Great map. Beautiful views and waterfalls. We found it to be a little lack-luster compared to some of the other hikes we've done lately, but still very nice. As usual, I cannot upload many of my photos, so I'm including a link to my blog entry about this hike.

Not a very long hike, but well worth the effort. When I say effort, I mean effort! The trail isn't marked in many places and there are large rocks and slabs of granite to traverse. I went with a group of nine ladies and we all had a great time. Just beautiful!
(As usual, many of my photos are too large to upload, so I'm including a link to my blog.)

A beautiful trail with outstanding vistas. We started at DL Bliss State Park, hiked to Vikingsholm, took the tour and hiked back. Made for a long day, but WELL worth it! We all had a wonderful time and will make this an annual event!
For some reason I can't upload more than a few of my photos, so I'll include a link to my blog.

Carol Cotton reviewed Mt Judah Loop Trail

Lynn and I were a bit apprehensive about going on this hike because of the description ... Altitude climb of over 1,700 feet! The first part of the trail was loaded with switchbacks ... and rocks. Karen's description was very appropriate, "It appears we are ripping off the band aid quickly as the most difficult part of the hike is in the beginning" as most of the climb was at the beginning meaning most of the descent was at the end. There was a pretty healthy climb between Mt. Donner and Mt. Judah with a lot of switchbacks, as well. There were a few times I questioned my own sanity, but it was well worth the efforts! Absolutely breathtaking views all around! As always, I've included a link to my blog that's filled with photos that are too large to upload here. (And, yes! I'd do this hike again and again!)

Some friends and I ventured out on our own to hike around Jenkinson Lake. To walk all the way around the lake it 8.5 miles. We decided to hike to the waterfall and back and save the rest of the trek for another adventure. It's a beautiful place with gorgeous vistas and lots of wildlife.

A great trail with lots of wide, flat areas. The wooden structures are super nice and make it easy for handicap accessibility for quite a ways. The part of the trail that leads down to the water is steep and rocky, but not difficult. The short trail back up, though, is quite steep. (Keep in mind this was one of my first hikes around here, so after doing the hikes we've been doing since then, I might have a different view of it now.)

I went on this hike with some friends of mine. We were part of a hiking meet up. Beautiful, wide trail with some elevation loss and gain. The waterfalls and pools were awesome, although we chose not to get in. Had we gone later in the year, that would have been different! Here's a link to my blog entry with more photos of the hike.

A beautiful short hike to a gorgeous waterfall. I went three times in one week! I'll definitely go back again and again! I'm including a link to the third of these hikes. The other two are also blogged here, as well.

Carol Cotton reviewed Caples Lake to Emigrant Lake

I went with some friends as part of a meet up to hike Caples Lake to Emigrant Lake and back again. Absolutely beautiful hike! (The rest of the group left before we even had our backpacks on, so we were pretty much on our own.) We got a little disoriented at one point, but we found our way quickly ... Thanks to having a compass, a map and a few rock stacks (ducks) along the way! There was still a bit of snow on a couple of sections of the trail. Gorgeous views! I'm putting a link to my blog entry. There are tons of photos there that are too large to load here. Feel free to click on them and view them full screen.

We thoroughly enjoyed our hike at Loon Lake Trail yesterday. We had outstanding conditions and thoroughly enjoyed the trail, the hike, and the day! The trail is VERY well marked and maintained. I wore shorts, and will wear longer (convertible) pants next time I go as there are lots of low-lying shrubs along the narrow trail and my legs got a bit scratched up. We had planned on going all the way to Spider lake, but we misjudged our timing, so that'll have to wait for another time ... Sometime soon!
