Cameron Zucker reviewed Cathedral Rock to Red Rock Crossing

Excellent trail for getting pictures of Cathedral Rock and surrounding formations from and along Oak Creek. This trail is much less frequently traveled than the Cathedral Rock trail, but suffers from the same lack of parking due to sharing a trail head. Several offshoots from this trail lead to the river, and the area is dark enough to get good pictures of the Milky Way at night, despite being within a stone's throw of several houses.

This is a hard, deceptively short, but very rewarding mile. The middle third is very steep rock scrambling, which usually involves awkwardly passing many other visitors, but this is much easier to manage after having done it once. Parking during summer months can be essentially impossible, so arriving early to secure a spot is a good idea.

Essentially a discount Coyote Buttes for those who couldn't get a permit. I love off-roading, but the drive was long and tedious, with little of interest on the way after passing Coyote Buttes South. There is a short trail leading from the "parking lot" to White Pocket itself, but exploring is free-form once the trail terminates at the sandstone. Not sure I'd do it again.

Excellent short trail which is well-trafficked during the day. Worth doing since it's barely a mile off the 89.

Short walk over a hill to reach the bend, which surprisingly doesn't have any safety rails (great for photographers, surprising for anything USGOV-run). This trail isn't closed down at sunset, so nighttime photography at the bend without throngs of tourists is very doable. Wear shoes to deal with several inches of sand which covers the entire trail.
