This was a pretty mellow hike as far as the trial goes. I really enjoyed it because there are a handful of lakes you can explore if you take the loop. Wildflowers are in full bloom right now too.

Did this hike on 7/31/17. I started at the ibantik lake trail head where the crystal lake parking lot is. The trail itself wasn’t bad at all. The hardest part was getting up the notch, but even then I didn’t find it that difficult. The views from the notch are awesome! Ibantik lake was surprisingly crowded tho. On my way back I ended up taking the Clyde lake trail so it looped around and ended back at the crystal lake trailhead. This is a great hike if you wanted a quick day hike or a long one you can spread it it as fast or as long as you’d like. A bunch of different lakes to explore and check out.

Did a day hike on 7/13/17 and explored grandaddy, Betsy, Mohawk and fish hatchery lake. Grandaddy Basin is one of my favorite places in the High Uintas to explore. There are a ton of places to go off and explore and hike. This time of year the mosquitos are horrible. When we got up to fish hatchery lake we had planned to stop and eat lunch but the bugs were so bad we were forced to leave and eat somewhere else. Later in the year this place is perfect tho. After you get up over Hades Pass it’s pretty easy going for the most part.

Awesome day hike. Did this on 6/28/17. A few little patches of snow but overall clear. Pretty muddy on some parts of the trail though. Mosquitos were pretty bad as well. But I would def do this hike again. Made it to Shepard and Hoover lakes as well and explored around a bit. There was nobody else on the trail the whole time we were there.

Just went on 6/23/17. Snow is all cleared out and not much mud at all. It was an awesome little hike for the day. There were more switchbacks and it was steeper than I expected but overall a pretty easy hike. The lake is beautiful especially with the tall cliff right against it. There is also another un-named lake right before you get to Bourbon that is worth exploring.
