A nice trail to get away from the hustle/bustle of the casinos and stretch your legs after skiing.

As suggested by the Ranger in the visitors center, we started from the Octagon shelter parking area, which takes you right into the bottom of the ledges (best view). Today we just did the loop, but there are lots of paths in/out of the impressive rock formations. Looking forward to more exploring the next trip.

This is a fun trail that travels the ups and downs of the forested dunes and ends with a stretch along Lake Michigan. According to my GPS app, it is 1.8 miles for the loop. There are some ups and downs on the trail and a short trek on the dune at the lake.

The good and the bad - it's in the middle of Indiana farm country. Why good - so am I, so it's a few miles up the road. The bad - Indiana farm country is flat. Trail 5 (as all trails at the park), are nicely shaded paths through woodland, with an occasional footbridge over a wet area. Not a bad way to spend a few hours! The park also has buffalo, a lake and a fire tower that you can still climb.
