This is a great hike for the Autumn or cooler seasons, not for the Summer. I learned the hard way and felt bad for my dog, it was my first time hitting this trail in the summer. I took the South Legacy Trail and looped all the way to North Legacy Trail and back to the beginning point. I should have started the hike at the crack of dawn to be honest because by the time I hit North Legacy it was so hot! There was definitely less shade so you are in direct sun most of the way. The amount of water I brought which was my full camelbak and extra hydro flasks for me and my dog was not enough. We went through water like nothing and nearly died of heat exhaustion! The hike itself was not challenging, but the amount of heat and sunlight made it so much more difficult. Aside from that the scenery was nice, we walked along a herd of goats and some cows. Anyways, if you decide to take the longer trail in the summertime be prepared and try to get there before the sun rises.

This is an easy trail. It's a bit unmaintained so there were a lot of weeds growing everywhere, lots of poison oak and also lots of cat shit at the beginning of the trail. I guess there are a few stray cats out there. There are a ton of ticks on this trail so if you do have your dog with you, make sure you check them. I ended up pulling a bunch off of my dog. The trail has an awesome view of the bay area, you can see the bridges and also the sugar cane factory. There are cows that freely graze around, so that was cool. There's not much shade so I'd definitely recommend going on a cooler day and bringing lots of water. I'm not sure if I'd do this trail again though, too many weeds and ticks, the scenery wasn't really worth walking through all of the weeds and stuff.

This trail is beautiful during the Spring and one of my favorites during the springtime. Great panoramic views and wild flowers everywhere! It's a pretty easy trail, there are a few climbs here and there, but nothing too crazy. There are nice spots by the river if you want to take a dip. I would recommend bringing plenty of water especially hitting the trail on a hot day, there's very few shade. If you take The Long Valley Trail you'll come across the movie set of Love Comes Softly and towards the end of the trail you'll be walking along side a sheep herd.
