Great road biking trail. Concrete sections like a sidewalk so it can be a little rough on a stiff bike when you hit a gap between sections, but it is well maintained (really, it is basically brand new). Pretty scenery, mostly through wooded areas behind single family residential developments so don't expect river or skyline views. There are a couple at-grade crossings of residential streets where bikes are asked to yield but you probably won't even see a car on them, the larger roads and highways all have underpasses for the trail.

The Main Thing about The Veloway is the dictated 3.1 mile paved loop for bikes and skates. Needs a fresh repaving soon (the city has been promising to do it "next year" for about 4 years now) so I am going to rate it 4 stars instead of 5, but it is perfectly usable. Some kind souls (or maybe some workers prepping to re-pave it) have used red spray paint to mark some of the bigger problem areas (cracks) that might catch your wheel and pull you down, so they are easily avoided. There is a connection to a mountain bike trail at one point on the loop, but the main attraction is road cycling on pavement without needing to worry about cars and pedestrians, neither of which are allowed. Lots of local road cyclists and triathletes train on their bikes here. Keep your eye out for that one big hill and be sure to downshift and maintain speed going into it or you'll stall and fall over halfway up like I did on my first loop.
