If you go to Yachats, Oregon Coast, this is an absolute MUST!!! The little trail starts at Smelt Sands State Park and meanders along the coast and rocky shores, which is very lovely, beautiful and depending on the time of day, quite spectacular..... Especially at sunset. After that, you can walk for 6 miles along the sandy beach and find sand dollars, and all sorts of treasures on the beach..... Do the beach walk early morning on a low tide! If you are there on a high tide go North a bit, and enjoy spectacular waves crashing onto the rocks, towering sprays up to 40 feet high.
I love this little trail, and I hope you will enjoy it also. Remember to leave only footprints, and only take pictures !!

One of the most beautiful hikes on the Oregon coast and a must do for fit people. It's a hard climb from the bottom, and your thighs will burn, but take it easy, annoy every moment, turn around every few minutes, ..... You will do that automatically because of the stunning views. Take a good substantial snack and lots of water, and check the weather forecast as you definitely want to do this on a clear sunny day..... Also, go early, this trail is very popular..... People come from all over the world.... I met Swedes, Germans, and Italians on our hike! Make sure your camera battery is fully charged, take a hat and sunscreen ! I started on the beach at the Devils Churn, and did the whole hike, but you can break it up

So far definitely one of my favorite trails at the coast...... Starting off with a major incline and ultimate thigh workout, then just when you think you can't do this anymore you are rewarded with a beautiful sea view from a meadow after the deep beautiful fairytale forest with many little hobbits and fairies.
Please do not be in a hurry when you do this trail and start very early, especially in summer time. You want to be there at 7 am already ....... The parking lot fills up very quickly and nowhere along the road to the trailhead is any legal parking...... Your car will be towed away!!! Most of this trail is on private property and you're asked to respect and observe this, and please do not wonder off the trail as all of this beautiful special nature preserve is being preserved for a very special Silverspot butterfly, which is almost extinct in our beautiful Oregon. Also please do not bring your dogs. Enjoy the hike and awesome scenery, and please leave nothing behind but your footprints..... This is such a special place and we all need to do our part to preserve it!

Most definitely a favorite...... Walked the trail on Sunday, 10th 2015 for the seventh time in 7 years!
The whole loop is well maintained and the waterfalls against the fresh green Spring growth is magical ..... A true fairyland!!
We measured the loop, and it was just under six miles. We did skip the last canyon trail as everyone was pretty tired. The only thing I recommend is get there early. We were the first car in the parking lot and had the place pretty much to our selves until about 10am. Then a whole flood of humans decended upon the park, and even though it was Mother's Day, it does fill up pretty quickly on weekends.
It is such an interesting geological wonder and never fails to amaze me. It is one of those magical places that should be on everyone's bucket list.

Beautiful trail, just under 6 miles out and back starting a little west of the Oneota tunnel, up to lower Oneota falls, where you cross a little bridge and then wind your way up to horsetail falls and triple falls. Nice elevation gain for a good workout and great rewards with stunning views and old growth forest. The trail is in excellent condition, we just did this last weekend, 5/03/2015.
Going back later this summer to wade the Oneota Gorge!!

I started the trail at the lighthouse, behind the lighthouse actually, then all the way down to Hobbit Beach, and back, which is about six miles of beautiful scenery. The trail was wet and muddy, to be expected in January, but that didn't bother me as the scenery was gorgeous! And not busy at all!

A beautiful little zig-zag hike up to the small little lake with gorgeous views of Mt.Hood. If you're a photographer, go on a clear day in early summer, go early, take a pic-nic and explore the surrounding area...... You can also hike up to Tom, Dick and Harry! Take a swim in the lake, or stay the night if you like, some cozy little camp spots along the lake...... Make sure you take out all your trash...... Keep it beautiful!

Beautiful hike, especially close to Gales creek ..... The stark contrast of the white bark of the trees against the intense green of beautiful ferns..... The falls are pretty, and the trail is well maintained , just did it last week. But I am going to hike it again in the Spring!
    Took some great pictures too!

It is quite a long way to drive there from Salem, OR, so leave early and take a nice picnic lunch with you.
Quite a long gravel road drive too..... I recommend going in the summer when it is dry.
The walk down to "the Village" is basically a road walk, but there are little site trails you can take and I recommend that otherwise it gets a bit boring.
The water is crystal clear, ice cold, and beautiful turquoise colored in most of the pools, so nice spots for a picnic.

Certainly one of the most rewarding trails I've done........ Don't be discouraged by the steep elevation gain..... Just go at your own pace and you will be rewarded by the incredible vistas, both east and west of the beautiful Columbia River Gorge.
It only takes about an hour to do the hike so visit Stevenson when you are done!

Amazingly beautiful views from the top, and even half way up ......just incredible!
Don't get discouraged by the steep stairs and walkways....... Just go at your own pace and you will be rewarded. I wasn't super fit when I did this hike and made I quite easily...... Here are some pics to prove my point!
