Brock Reese reviewed Lake Blanche Trail

Started Sun Jul 23 @ 10am - The main parking lot was full so we parked on the main street, no big deal. Took us 2hr 15min to reach the lake with plenty of stops to catch our breath and drink water. We passed a few groups and had a few groups pass us, so I'd say it was pretty average. There are steep sections followed by flatter sections which provided nice breaks. I wish I would have started at 7-8am instead of 10. It was hot coming down. Took 1 hour 55 min down. I used poles for the first time on this hike and felt it helped a lot.

Hiked this trail from the parking lot at Albion Base on Sunday July 16 at 10am. This was the most crowded I've ever seen the trail, especially when it meets up with everyone skipping the beginning at the Albion Campground. Luckily, most people are either too lazy or unaware of the very best part of the hike this time of year: the absolutely gorgeous wildflowers in the meadows between the Base parking lot and the campground! There seems to be about a 2-3 window when the wildflowers are in full bloom, and it's starting to happen right now. Bring your camera!

This is basically a non-hike because it's right next to the road. If you park in the lot in the upper loop of the "s" there is a trail which goes up and crosses the road at the top of the "s". Once you're on the other side of the road, find your way down to the river and follow it up about 30-50 yards until you can see the waterfall. Do not take the established trail to the right which starts a steep path to the east. That's a different hike. There are different ways up to the waterfall, either crossing the river or not, but you need to stick to the river. There is what appears to be the opening to an abandoned mine shaft near the waterfall as well.

July 24 2016 It appears there are multiple ways to get to Dog Lake from the parking lot at the top of Millcreek Canyon. We took the Little Water trail up which had very nice scenery and follows a creek up for the first half of it. The grade was a little steeper than anticipated, I would say it's the higher end of a moderate hike. My GPS said it took us about 1.5 miles and 45 minutes of motion time to get up... that doesn't include 4-5 breaks to catch our breath and take a drink of water. The signs said the distance was more like 1.8 miles.

We were there on an even numbered day so there were some bikers coming down, but they were polite. There were lots of dogs on the trail and up at the lake, it was fun to see them having a good time. It took us 35 minutes to come down back to the parking lot the same way we went up.

Side note: LOTS of bugs/flies/mosquitos, they'd leave me alone while I was moving for the most part and I wasn't wearing any spray. Very annoying.

Went in the evening as the sun set and it was beautiful. We missed the trail back to the parking lot because we accidentally stayed on the BST trail, cost us an extra half mile but it was fun on the north side too.
