Great trail, good for kids, absolutely beautiful! Wish you could go closer to waterfall at the end, but still a great view. Super hot and humid, bring plenty of water. Bamboo forest was very cool too. Gorgeous area.

Not easy by any means. You do cross the creek about 13 times. Rocks are slippery and you definitely want shoes that are meant for water. My two kids did it and had fun but they hike a lot, I wouldn’t say it’s “kid friendly” for kids that don’t hike on a regular basis and my kids did have a couple of falls. It was also very unclear where to go to get to the waterfall. The trail is confusing. Definitely some pretty areas but not my favorite hike ever.

Holy moly, this trail is a workout! We hiked to the top, aka when you see the sign for Alpine Trail #7. You can keep going on that trail if you wish, all the way to Jewel Basin. If you want a shorter hike, you can hike to the waterfalls that are approximately 2.2 miles from the trail head. Once you cross the logs, you have to hike up the hill to the left to get all the way to the waterfalls. The top has some of the most amazing views of the valley and of GNP. Bring bear spray for sure and know that this trail is not very populated. Lots of bugs too. Great, challenging hike!

Herron has some amazing trail systems that are well marked and good for running or hiking. Wildflowers are amazing, as well as the views. This can be an area where you do a short hike or a long hike. I’ve done a few miles with the kids here and I’ve also run a half marathon here. The trails go all the way to Blacktail Mtn. Really beautiful area.

Fun and kid friendly hike. Pretty flat, trail is wide and in good shape. The fire burned through here, so the forest isn’t really there anymore in a lot of this area. Still a great hike, flowers, water, morel mushrooms.....the falls are amazing. My GPS said 6 miles round trip.

Very kid friendly, Trail is an old road. Not the most scenic, especially considering what’s up the road at Jewel Basin. Essentially flat, I want to go back and run it. Very green and pretty, but definitely not exciting.

Really beautiful trail and nice to walk around the water in Arizona. Not very difficult, brought my kids along.

Fairly mellow hike and good for most ages. Can be beautiful during wildflower season but that can also bring a lot of bees. Usually not super crowded.

Really cool cave at the top. Did it with my kids, easy for 9 year old, challenging for 5 year old. It’s pretty steep toward the top and the trail isn’t marked very well in some spots. Really good photo opportunities at the cave too. Overall a good hike.
We parked in a small parking lot. You go through the fence and not next to it, we hiked off to the side by accident. Up toward the top, it’s easy to go off the trail but that’ll eventually bring you to the cave too.
My GPS has us at over 4 miles and elevation gain of over 1,400 feet.

This was a beautiful and challenging hike. The views were phenomenal. Not for beginners, not good if you’re scared of heights. My 9 year old did this with me and he did fantastic, but as a parent, it was terrifying having him up there (he begged to do this hike). My advice regarding bringing kids....make sure you know their boundaries. That they’ll stay close and not goof around. It’s totally ok to skip the part at the end where you have a chain on one side and a 1,000 foot drop off on the other. I loved this hike, but be smart and know your limits!

Absolutely beautiful with the changing colors. Only gave it a 4 because it was so crowded and the road getting there isn’t the best (narrow with a steep drop off). Loved the hike itself and the scenery.

Absolutely beautiful but even the reviews didn’t prepare me for the number of people and the amount of waiting we did. I still think it’s worth it but prepare yourself! The guides are great too.

Easy and kid friendly hike. Falls are beautiful and you can hike right up to them. The views of the lake and Mission mountains are fantastic. Can be crowded.

We hiked from Swiftcreek to Smith Lake, which is 2.6 miles each way. Really nice trails and definitely easy enough for kids. Enjoyed the area and the mellow hike.

One of my favorite hikes, absolutely beautiful! You're definitely likely to see a bear on this trail, so be prepared. Well worth the drive! Hike is pretty flat, not much elevation gain. Can also be quite crowded.

Really pretty Lake with views of the mountains. According to my GPS, it's significantly shorter than 4.3 miles, but maybe that depends on where you stop. We backpacked in and camped, there are a few nice camp sites with fire pits. The trail starts off pretty steep too, and goes uphill for awhile. Not really what I'd classify as easy, especially with an 8 year old carrying a backpack. Overall, beautiful and a good hike or camp spot. Super easy access off Hwy. Decent lake to fish in too.
