Great hike did it yesterday 03-10 about 3 Miles round trip.. beautiful lake the water was just as pristine as u can imagine and waterfall .. the trail is somewhat doable without micro spikes but highly recommend them because a few places were pretty slippery

My first hike in Yosemite and was not experienced at all was going to do half dome via mono meadow but as a rookie hiker just wasn’t prepared still hiked about 3 Miles in where I saw my first bear grazing in the meadows only a 100 feet or so away from me. Camped at a really nice flat place and heard something around my tent that night. Decided the next morning just to do some easier hikes and get acclimated to the area but on my wAy back up the trail saw another bear crossing the trail .. if u ever want to see bears this is the best trail and area to do that

I was leary doing this hike because I was not in great shape but started at camp 4 and started early and just took my time and the ascent was rather continuous but gradual for the most part and u get to a lookout point to take in the views and rest for a few before u start to climb again it gets flat for a while and U actually descend a little before u hit the exposed switchbacks and start that gauntlet of switchbacks which was a workout but very beautiful the higher u go. Once u get to the top u can veer right for the last 1/4 mile to the falls go straight to Yosemite point or left to head to the top of el cap the views are absolutely amazing and is by far one of my favorite hikes carry plenty of water u had retards going up in high 80’s with just a little water bottle 3-4 liters is def recommended.. not sure who said 5 Miles ?? But it’s like 3.6 up and 3.6 Miles back down total of over 7 Miles
