As a teenager my father & I were avid hikers/backpackers. Together we completed dozens upon dozens of day hikes and overnight backpacking trips in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. We became experienced 4,000 footers, climbing all 4 seasons of the year and often assisting unprepared weekend warriors out of trouble as well as a handful of very serious search & rescue missions. Then of course life happened and it has been many years since I have done any serious hiking. Now at age 47, with life slowed down a bit and successfully overcoming 10 years of serious health challenges I'm returning to a favorite activity from my youth. My short term goals are to rebuild endurance, identify my "old man" limits and re-hone the extensive skills taught to me by my Dad many years ago. Mid term I want to relive the past a bit by duplicating a few of our favorite hikes from decades past such as Mt. Osceola (done), Lonesome Lake (done), Mt Lafayette/Franconia Ridge Trail and Mt. Moosilauke. Long term I will complete the 4,000 footers while chipping away at the Highest Hundred, just as I did in the past. I look forward to completing the 52WAV (52 with a view) and the one I always wanted to complete, Mt. Katahdin's Knife Edge! One last goal of mine is to introduce new folks to the great outdoor life in the wilderness.
