Rated lower as was too smoky to see anything from the top. Starts out walking on some lava rock which was the most difficult for my kids. Fun to go inside the crater and was overall a easy moderate hike. I plan to do this one again when there isn't so much smoke.

Different perspective of the lake and awesome to be so close to the water. Was very smoky so couldn't see anything on other side of the lake. Pretty steep going back up and after the day on wizard island my kids were pooped.

Great hike and fun trail. Very easy for the first part until the last 0.5 miles which was all up. Well worth it and easy to bough for my 4 and 6 year olds.

Amazing. Waterfalls, views, lakes, and wildlife. Took my 4 and 5 year old and they both hiked the whole way (with lots of breaks). Bighorn sheep were found at the top as well. Highly recommend this hike and if we are back in Glacier we will be doing this one again.

Very easy and well maintained hike. Beaver lodge can be found (it's by where the stream to the west enters the lake) and great views of the mountains. No hills and very easy walk.

Good hike. Saw a deer on trail and moose in the lake. Good view of changes after forest fire as well but this caused the hike to have little shade. Would do again.

Very easy trail with good views and lots of scenery. Saw a moose in Josephine Lake. Was told normally a lot of bears can be found on hike but due to dry summer berry season wasn't good and as such bears are at higher elevations. Very easy hike for my 4 and 5 years olds.

Great hike with excellent views and wildlife sighting (big horn sheep, mountain goats and marmots). Going back up from lake is pretty steep but going down was worth it. My kids (4 yrs and 5 yrs) did the entire hike and had a good time.

Really a 4+ hike. It had a great start (loved the creek and rock formations) and end (Great Lake with waterfalls in distance) but was really busy and not much to see along the way. Kids (ages 4 and 5 years) did fine with it and it was nice to do hard part first half (which was mostly up on way out). Would recommend but try for a quieter time of day.

Took my 3.5 and 5 year old and was not too difficult. Parking was full at 10am so had to park at the bowl which was not so much fun. Views from the lake were nice and the hike had a variety of things to keep the kids going.

Amazing views and cool waterfall. We went up to lower inspiration point which was about 0.5 miles further. Saw a black bear and cub next to the path so beware. No problem for my 3.5 and 5 year olds.

If you have kids 5+ years can pair this hike with a scientist patch earned from the visitor center. Was cool as part of the scientist activity you had an infrared thermometer and educational materials that made the hike so much fun. Add on a coyote visit during the hike and it was phenomenal.

Views were amazing but the path is a gravel access road with minimal shade and loose gravel. My 3.5 year old did the whole hike (it helped that you went 100% up to the top and then 100% down on the way back). Saw a bighorn sheep, 3 marmots and red forums squirrels.

Easy but unimpressive. My 3 year old and 5 year old had no problem doing the hike but were fairly unimpressed with what they saw.

Great for young kids. My 3 year old and 5 year old had so many things to crawl on, through and over. Add on a waterfall and it made a great hike. My 5 year old said it was her favorite part of today.
