Brandy Rood reviewed Bells Canyon Trail to Lower Falls

I found it to to be a good amount of challenge with great views as the pay off. Took a little over 4 hours round trip but I have not done much hiking this year so I’m not in the best shape. We went at about 8:30 and the bugs were not bad at all. It’s really nice that there are places to sit and rest once you get to the falls. Great views of the city as well. My garmen showed about 5,5 miles to lower falls.

Beautiful flowers and a decent amount of shade. The lake was meh.

It was a nice very easy hike. Even though they had lots of maps I still found it a bit confusing. Great view of the city but I think I prefer greener hikes. It was a fun way to hang out with a friend.

Decent hike. I like the more wooded hikes. The lake was nice and very clear. It seemed like all the gain in elevation was at the last .2 miles or so. There were some super cute ground squirrels that tried to help them selves to my almonds. It was an alright hike but for me personally I don't know that I would drive that far up the canyon to go the short hike. I went with my sister and niece, but I am more of a fan of 5-7 mile hikes with a nice elevation gain, so my opinion might be less favorable than others would be.

I thought it was a nice hike. The waterfall was more of a high up water trickle, but it was still nice, The last part is wooded and nice. The first part is kind of exposed, but for a short hike it's not too big of a deal. It was a little rocky. I don't know that I would drive from West Valley to do it again but I did not feel like it was a waste of time, just not a favorite.

It was a decent hike, but definitely not a favorite, or one I would necessarily recommend. The entire area is really dry for the most part and I prefer green and flowers. We tried to follow the trail on the map, but somehow ended up off the map on the trail with no idea where we missed a turn, so we got to the top and made it an out and back. We saw a rabbit, humming birds, lizard, deer, and lots of people with horses and dogs. The view is nice at the top, so that made the hike better. We ended up 6 miles and 1,300 elevation gain according to my Garmin. If you don't mind the dry landscape I think you would like it more than I did. Lots of horse poop was also kind of annoying.

Just got back from this hike and I thought it was great! There is a paved road on the left side of the road and you go up that a bit and then turn up to the right when the road goes down and left or right. There are not any signs. There is a fork toward the end and you go to the left to get to the lake.

Maybe bring some food for the ducks because they will walk up to you and even eat out of your hands, if you don't mind the risk of a bite. The aspen tree's were beautiful and there were some nice flowers, but the fields were not full of them. We got up there around 8 or 8:30 and it was great weather and great view with the sun on the lake. It's kind of steep in that the 600 plus feet is done in just one mile, but definitely manageable and well worth the short hike. The meadow is beautiful and to is the lake.

That was the worst hiking experience I have had. If you try to follow the "6" mile trail it's really closer to 10! It's overgrown, we somehow ended up not exactly on the trail at the end but showed we were at the end of the trail and it led to nothing of note, after all that work. We ran out of water with about 3-4 miles left. I wish they would update it to show it ends at the lookout point because really it does. The rest is like a difficult random side trail with no point. I think the good rating must be based off the lookout because there is no way hiking to what we went to would get s good rating. If they don't do that it sure would be nice if the distance was accurate. That was the worst!

I found this hike a good challenge with rewarding views. It feels good to say you hiked to the top of the mountain. The only disappointment was the bugs at the very top. There were so many and they were buzzing so loud you could not really sit and enjoy the view. It was great to be able to see out in all directions. I did a panoramic picture but it stops before you get the full 360 view. If you could have sat and enjoyed a break at the top I would have rated 5 stars.

We went today around 7 in the morning, to beat the heat. It was a nice hike and has beautiful streams and waterfalls during the first part. About half way up the bugs got really bad. We had "off" bug spray but it did not help. They were flying into our faces and definitely ruined that part of the hike. We got to the lake and it was amazing. The water was so clear you could see some of the fish swimming in the edge. The bugs were not bad there and we were able to sit and eat, enjoying the view. Heading down it the trail was still shaded until the last half hour or so.
