Brad Snyder reviewed Black Butte Trail

Definition of a steady incline from the start to finish but wasn’t too difficult. Views from the top are incredible!

My favorite hike so far in the PNW. We had perfect weather and snow is about 1 inch right now depending on the area may be deeper. 100% need a high clearance vehicle. We had to rescue someone who took their Mazda and couldn’t make it out. Spend the night in their car. I believe this road closes first week of December

Can’t really talk about the view since I was in a cloud the whole hike but i will say i don’t think this hike is very safe for children due to the rock slides. Overall a Moderate hike not to bad

The best part of the hike is the old growth forest, some really massive trees. The lake is rather unimpressive although clouds were covering Mt.Hood once we got to it

No idea where the 7 miles came from but it’s around 11. No black flies yesterday which was a bonus

Unmatched views of St.Helens. This trail is very long and completely open. Recommend bringing a hat and sunglasses or the sun will wear you down.

Incredible hike the views are amazing. Slow burn to the top and really crowded at the beginning but worth it. Trail starts at Lake Louise and this time of year parking is horrendous. Waited over an hour to take the shuttle from the overflow lot

Honestly one of the best hikes I’ve done in the PNW. Stunning views not too crowded and the trail is in great condition. Would rate this as Moderate and not hard

Great hike. This trail is not dog friendly. More then half of it is covered in wire mesh to protect against erosion. Many areas have pieces of wire sticking out and my friends dog actually got cut. Besides that the view is amazing definitely recommend going on a clear day

Amazing hike with unreal views. Not to hard ether! Trail is horribly marked

Really awesome trail. Went on a clear day and not crowded at all. Take the map that you get from the Forest Rangers as the hike is not clearly marked in certain areas. Highly recommend

Really great trail. Plan more time then you typically would on a 5 mile trail because you will be in awe of the Redwoods (lots of pics) also the trail was not busy at all which was a very pleasant surprise. Would highly recommend

Salt Creek Falls is really impressive. The road is closed .7 miles from the trailhead. Unable to reach the other waterfall due to the trail being covered in ice
