Super easy trail system.. .mostly flat. If you go in the spring, there are a lot of different types of birds in the area. Deer may also be seen. Nice and quiet.

Lots of switchbacks! Great trail though.. some of it through an old forest fire. Passes Nada Lake and is part of the Enchantments Loop. Incredible! Very beautiful country. Nice camp sites.

Very good backpacking trip. Long arduous hike though... you will want to be in shape for this one. Six miles of up, three miles of down. You can actually camp in the basin before the Cabinet Wilderness boundary and also you can stay at Upper Wanless Lake. There are other small lakes in the area and from Wanless Lake you can look down into Buck Lake. The headwall at Wanless Lake is very impressive ( I would guess it climbs nearly 1500 feet). Pack your bug spray or go in early October, however it can snow that time of year there. Also,,,this is grizzly bear country. Bring bear spray and be smart with your food and where you cook. There are also elk, moose, mule deer, whitetail deer and various other critters in the area. One of the best backpacking trips I have ever been on.

Easy trail and nice excuse to get out of the vehicle. Interesting loop trail. Can't remember the exact distance, but want to say it's around a mile.

Easy, easy trail. Flat - wide..two miles. Hot springs at the end to soak your feet! Caution... there is usally nudity at the springs and sometimes other behavior that might not be appropriate for younger hikers.

2 and a quarter mile trail to the lake. Interesting trail through rock outcrops, large, old growth timber and then mountain hillside. Nice mountain lake. Small fish. Very enjoyable.

Very nice mountain lake with views of Chimney Rock and Mt. Roothaan from the back of the lake. Trail is a scramble over the boulders.. route is painted out on the rocks. There is a faint trail at the bottom of the rocks that I find a little easier to follow.

Chad Brockus reviewed Bottleneck Lake and Snow Lake

Trail follows old logging road. Junction to Bottleneck Lake is about 2 miles in. Trail to Bottleneck can be muddy. Bottleneck Lake has decent fishing. Small Brook Trout though. The trail from the Bottleneck Junction on up to Snow Lake is fairly easy..until the last 300 yards.. then it bumps up a bit. Both are nice alpine lakes. I like to turn this into a backpacking trip. This is grizzly bear country though, so pack bear spray.

Chad Brockus reviewed Pyramid and Ball Lakes Trail

Very nice trail to Pyramid Lake through forest.. fairly easy. Trail up to Ball Lakes is a little more demanding, but it has very nice views of Pyramid Lake. Fishing isn't that great, but these are nice alpine lakes. This is grizzly bear country though.. carry bear spray. Access via Trout Creek.

Trail is fairly steep through forests and brush. Just under the main lake you will break out into a little more open ground. Very nice views. Beautiful lake, decent fishing. For a cross country experience, you can go over the ridge to the north of the lake. Little Beehive/Harrison (seems like it's called two different things) is on the other side. Be wary though.. there are cliffs on that side! Must be a good route-finder for this-Compass and map would be great things to have.

Chad Brockus reviewed Lake Darling - Mount Pend Oreille Loop

Trail from Lightning Creek to Lake Darling is a very easy 2.5 mile jaunt through nice forest. Great trail for first time hikers or groups with children. There are usually deer around and there is also the occasional moose. Beautiful lake.
Trail from Lunch Peak to Mt. Pend O'Reille is an absolute blast. Ridgeline trail with tremendous views in all directions. Last half mile to the peak is a bit steep, but the view from the top is worth it. There are also remnants of a fire lookout on the top of Mt. Pend O'Reille as well as a lookout at the trailhead that can be rented. Access is best from Trestle Creek. There can be moose on the ridgeline trail. Wear a good boot or a shoe with good soles and carry water.

Very nice park setting. Trails well maintained. Most of the trails we hiked are very short but there are a couple that go a mile or two.. great place to go watch birds or just get outside with a loved one. Great place to take children. Costs 3 bucks for a carload of people.

This hike into Harrison Lake is what going to the mountains is all about. The trail is roughly 2.5 miles one way from the Pack River Trailhead and about 4 miles one way from the Myrtle Creek Trailhead. The trail in from Pack River has a lot of round granite gravel in it and is not conducive to speed walking. However, this route has awesome views of Beehive mountain and the Selkirk Crest. There are also wide panoramic views of the Pack River drainage once you get nearer to the top. This is one of my favorite lakes to hike in to. There are fish in the lake.. cutthroat trout. You can also scramble the ridge behind the lake up to the base of Harrison Peak-which is an impressive tooth. One other note.. there are wild animals that use this area.. especially moose ,deer and bears. Make noise while hiking to the lake!

Easy access to a set of sub-alpine lakes. You can drive to the largest of the three lakes and it's just a short hike to the other two. It has been years since I've been to the lower lake, but the trail to the upper lake climbs the ridge behind Roman Nose Lake #3 and goes through the old Sundance Burn. As you approach the upper lake, it can be a bit muddy, but the Forest Service has been putting in bridges and walkways. Also as you approach the upper lake, you will enter the timber again. Very nice set of lakes although it can be really crowded.
