Bianca Hartle reviewed Sea-to-Sky Hwy to Black Mountain's Peak

Only hiked to Eagle Bluffs. Steep climb at the end once you hit the rock slide. Trail before that is very nice, with a gradual climb. Difficult rating due to final techincal climb/scramble.

Great first half to Magnesia Meadows. Beautiful campsites and lake to refill the water bags. Difficult and technical trail up to Magnesia Meadows. Long trudge down to Deaks Lake and out. Worth it for the first half tho!

Good trail but steep and full of switchbacks. Good cardio workout in the woods. Late May and the lake is still frozen and socked in with snow.

The trail is in great condition and easy to maneuver across the creek as the bridge is washed out. Make sure you take the 10 minutes to walk to the lake before crossing the bridge. Pay attention to the trail markings as there are many different trails, you could get sidetracked easily.

WOW. what a beautiful change of scenery from the typical west coast mountains. Had to do this trail last minute as our original plan went sideways after a forest fire caught. No regrets though! Spent 5 days in total on the trail, 4 nights. ALOT of up and down up and down across all the creeks. Very minimal trail maintenance done on this path, therefore walked through several bogs, stepped over broken stairs/ladders and opted for scrambling rather than using old rope handholds. End of July and weather was perfect. Ensure you have waterproof boots as there is mud everywhere. Not as much beach walking as expected, more inland dirt trails.

Difficult ascent but completely worth it! Started mid morning and it was 30 degrees and dry in June. Completed in about 4 hours with minimal breaks along the way. Camped lakeside and explored the glacier in the morning. Beautiful views, wildflowers and campsite.

Beautiful views along the musical bumps trail and down the valleys. Lots of elevation gained and lost along the trail. Mediocre campsite, did not go near the cabin as it was busy and full of mice apparently. Completed at the end of August and the day we left it snowed that evening.

Short and sweet ascent. Tricky FSR drive in. Had to rescue a few people after their cars didnt make it. 4WD and high clearance is necessary. Insist on doing this on clear day as the views down the valley are amazing.

Completed this with my father, step mom and sister. From start to lake campsite in one day! Was a nice long walk with a challenging middle due to the incline. Spent 1 full day at the lake to explore. A bit busy at the top but still found space in the shelter to eat and a great campsite to rest.

Quiet trail with gorgeous views. Challenging because of the incline and climbing aspects. Well marked and walked on, not sure how other people got lost. The "top" is very anticlimactic, we huffed up a hill to find a spot to eat lunch in the brush before descending the logging road. Perhaps would have taken the trail back but was concerned our dog would have a hard time going down the steep stuff. Road is long- bring lots of water!
