I hiked this trail back in 2015 and took it to the top by the towers. The trail is beautiful and gives you a great view of Big Bear Lake. The last part when you are close to the towers goes straight up an access dirt road. When heading back down make sure not to miss the turn off for the trail. It is easy to miss and you will end up down the mountain miles from the trailhead. This last Memorial Weekend we headed towards this trail again, but didn't have enough time to do the whole trail. Even though we didn't have enough time it still did not disappoint. With only a short distance up you get a magical view of the lake. This trail is also tucked away on the back side of Big Bear lake making the trail not as crowded as the trails closer to the Village. Read more about our last trip on my blog

On the weekends the trail is overly crowded which ruins the experience and the beauty. If you want to enjoy this trail or even the park plan it so that you are not in the middle of the hustle and bustle. The views are breathtaking and worth the time to plan a great trip. We did a quick road trip with the family to Utah from California on weekend. After a leaving Zion National Park a little disappointed due to the overcrowded areas we hit Red Cliffs Campground in the Red Cliffs Preserve. The hike on Red Reef Trail was amazing. The views were breathtaking and the trail was easy enough for all the kiddos. And the best part was it was away from the crowds of Zion. I ended up hiking a very local mountain over the weekend. I have been hearing that it was an interesting trail but I haven't had the chance to explore until now.

Beware of SNAKES!!! We saw a very large very pissed off snake on the trail right where the trail starts. It is that time of year and they are out...

Ok the warning is out of the way lol. This trail was perfect for a quick hike. We didn't do all of the trail, next time I will do a little more research before heading out, but we got to the first set of rocks. The trail has a good incline right from the start but it is well maintained so you shouldn't have any issues doing this. It was very crowded but we started late in the day around 2ish. I'm sure if you start early you wouldn't have too many people. We weren't planning on this but decided to stop on our way to find a fishing spot. We found a parking spot on the side of the road gave us plenty of room to park and stay off the highway. Please if you plan on doing this hike park correctly and out of harm's way. We saw so many cars with one end hanging out onto the highway. This is both dangerous and stupid. If you can't find a safe place to park then come back another time.

My hike to Miner Vincent's Cabin and Big Horn Mine in the Angeles National Forest yesterday was quick and fun. I was able to find Vincent's cabin with no problems and also make it to the mine without any issues. The trail is pretty exposed so you are pretty much in the sun the whole time. The only thing that I was disappointed with was the amount of graffiti there was. If you want to read more about it visit my blog post at https://lovz2hike.com/2016/07/09/bighornmine2016/

Becky www.Lovz2hike.com reviewed Duck Pass Trailhead to Arrowhead Lake

We took Duck Pass trail to Duck Lake (past Arrowhead) and camped out overnight. This trail does not disappoint. At every turn there was something amazing to view. The first part of the trail is straight up but don't let that stop you. Once you get past that it starts to even out and you get the beautiful sceneries that the Sierra Nevadas promises you. The lakes you pass and the streams you cross make you stop in wonder. If you take the trail up over the pass to Duck Lake you will be rewarded with a deep blue sea of water. Some tips: Bring water it gets hot up there, the mosquitoes are the size of birds spray before you go, wear lots of sunscreen and don't forget your camera! Happy Hiking :)
