Absolutely amazing trail, with a variety of landscapes. You start off on a fairly flat section through the woods along the stream. At about 1 mile in you will get to the beautiful falls. From there the incline picks up as you will climb hundreds of stone steps. After a reprieve from the steps, it levels off a bit before the boulders.

The boulders start just about at the tree line. After climbing the boulders you’ll get to the gateway, a steep rock scramble. If the weather is good, you’ll get some amazing views starting here. I thought the summit would be just after this point, but don’t be fooled. You still have a ways to go. Luckily after the gateway you get to the tablelands which is a pretty flat for the most part, and a surreal alpine landscape.

Finally there is the last push to the top, with sweeping views.

This hike is very challenging. Be ready for a long day. It is just an incredible experience and I highly recommend it be on any hikers bucket list. Baxter State Park is an absolute must see for anyone visiting Maine.

This is a really nice hike in Franconia. Although the incline is steep at parts, it levels off shortly after. Definitely less strenuous than the trails up the ridge across the highway.

At the lake is a lovely dock that gives views to Franconia Ridge and Cannon. This is a great place to stop for lunch. Curious and friendly resident ducks on the lake may come up to you, but don’t feed them! They are fun to watch though.

It can get a bit muddy around the lake, but bog bridges help mitigate that.

I took the Dodge Cutoff Trail back down. It was less developed than the LL trail up. No staircases on Dodge. Less people though. I’d recommend going back down the way you came though.

Really nice hike, a good way to pass a few hours.

Try and go on a day you'll be likely to have views from the ridge. I went out to do the whole Franconia Ridge loop, but there was zero visibility up top, so I decided to go back down the way I came. It was tough both ways. I'd recommend hiking poles. Use caution going down, it's easy to slip on the wet rocks.

Lovely views all along the ridge. I enjoyed this one as much if not more than Cadillac Mountain. The trail was lightly trafficked. I chose to continue on to Sargent Mtn once I got to the top of this one, then went back down via East Cliffs and around the east side of Jordan Pond.

I had a bit of a tough time finding the start of this one. Go towards the Jordan Pond House. There is a turnaround place for buses at the front part. On the left side of the building there is a sign pointing that says "water access". Continue past this towards, and you will start to see signs for the Spring Trail. Take the Spring Trail up to meet up with Penobscot Mtn.

What a fun trail! Once you get to the top of Beehive you have great views of Acadia, the Bowl, and the ocean. Continue down to the Bowl for a nice lake view. Then the hike on the way back down is very easy over well built staircases.

Although steep at the beginning, I found this trail to be approachable. Bring grippy shoes though, for the iron bars and rocks.

I really wanted to finish this trail, but I had to bail about 1/4 mile from the end. The last mile is very steep over rocks and stone steps. Bring LOTS of water for this one.

Also want to note it was a little tricky to find the start for me. I parked in the place where there is a bulliten board with maps and signs. Continue down what looks like a dirt road, to the left of this sign. You will come to another space cleared out with a smaller sign. Continue straight over the bridge (and enjoy the views on either side of the mountains). Then, keep going straight, there is a flat path that runs along the river. There are not a lot of blue blaze markers, so I wasn't sure if I had missed the trailhead. You will pass one camp site up and to the left right after the bridge, then another farther down on the river. The trail head is near this second campsite. Once you are on the trail it is fairly well marked.

There were a few muddy spots, although steps were mostly in place to pass. This is a hike I'd really recommend bringing poles on.

I hope to finish this one another time. All in all a great and remote hike.

I really like this hike. Fairly easy hiking, little incline, and tons of nice lookout points.

Not a bad hike, not my favorite. No lookouts on this trail. An easy hike however. Nice views near the parking area in Sebec Lake.

Really nice day trip. Overall not too tough until above the tree line. It did get windy up there, I’d recommend a snug fitting hat or long sleeves. The views at the top are gorgeous, although I’d recommend staying away from the parking area for something a bit more tranquil.

Good trail. Well marked. Lovely views of the falls. Although rated hard, I didn’t find this trail to be too tough. I was able to complete it in 5ish hours. I also saw a moose on KI Works road on the way to the parking area.
