Not a beginner bike trail. This is more of a beginner/intermediate bike trail. There were more rocks and ledges than expected. I would not bring kids here with there bikes either. I am rehabbing my knee with biking and the rocks were too much for me at this time. Not a lot of people out which is nice. Bikers are to ride clockwise and horses and hikers are to walk counter clockwise.

Small but beautiful park. We rode MTB; took our nephew with us. The trail is easy for all family and kids. The trails are in great shape. We did the loop, the San Marcos trail was closed due to recent flood activity a couple months back. The bike was fun but walking the trails would be nice as well. We saw an off the leash dog chase a deer. I am not sure if the dog made it back to the owners, I hope the dog did not kill it.

Tried the intermediate section, it was challenging, this place had quite a bit of rock, 50%. Some of the challenge portion had some narly rocks, Swiss cheese rocks. It also has quite a bit of ledges and some drop offs. The part I call challenge is the climbs, the climbs are not very long, but I need improvement on my climbs. The trailhead starts at bottom as you climb 2 miles up to the top. If you notice the map it is up /down up /down up towards the top. We skipped the black diamond section. When you make it to the top if you go right past the fence line they have another blue section to do. Once to top , you ride down "the decent." Here you will get packed dirt, til this segment drops you in the novice section. Windy red dirt section that goes on for about 4 miles. The disappoint was that we did less than 10 miles, the MTB trails does not have that much trail options. If we had done the expert section that would have only been about 1 extra mile. The Internet and even the dumb sign at the trailhead have these misleading mileage numbers. Like 15 miles and the green (novice) part being 7 miles when it is only 4. Now maybe there were some unmarked trails we missed? But according to the mtb map they gave at the front center we did the map. Now, when the Internet says 17 miles of trails-- I think they are including equestrian trails and this multiuser trail that circles round the MTB trails hill. You can probably do the entire MTB part in 2 hrs or less. That was my only complaint, the misinformation.

Did not have time to do any trail but the easy trail, map says it is 2 miles but really it is 4. They have 3 more trails increasing in difficulty. Went in early April, no crowds. Had very nice pavilions and restrooms. Best I have ever seen, but again you pay $10 per car. Totally worth it for the low crowds and nice facilities. Will try the other loops next time.

Beautiful. 1st did Paseo del Rio, very easy. Next, We did the light house trail, you are going up hill, not too steep, until the 2.8 mile part then there is a bike rack, you lock your bike and the hike the steep remainder to the lighthouse. We did not make it up, we were using biking shoes. This is a crowded trail with people you have to watch for. We turned around and took Little Fox Trail, no one on that one , fun windy route with small down hill parts. Even some logs to cross over. Ended up back at trailhead for lighthouse and did Rojo Grande Trail. That was cool, we got to ride along a ledge of the canyon, the trail was a bit more challenging b/c was up and down and little more steep, have to switch those gears well or you will end up walking some of the hills. I was also pretty tired toward end. That was about 10 miles took us about 2 hrs. The park is well maintained and beautiful. $5 per person. It was actually a little chilly in town but at the Canyon it was warmer temp. One weird annoying thing--lots of flies, they were small and they loved our sunblock lotion, any time we stopped flies would start landing on us. Crazy amounts of flies.

Part ii, still got lose over in first section, but did way better than 1st time. Once we got lost we knew which direction the road was ; headed toward the road crossed over to part 2 (on left side of road). That section was less difficult than1. 2 was good, then we crossed over the road yet again to the right. You should come across a trail map at that point, then we crossed over to the right again and you should see a mile 6 marker. You finish off the last of it and should end near the trail head parking lot. It has lots of rocks but very doable for an intermediate. Liked the challenge , lots of drop offs, some small to some need to walk you bike down. Good flow. After 1 hr in I was getting tired with the small uphill parts. Lots of ducking around trees. This trail could use more red markers. When I make it back, I think I will take some and tie them off when we come to rest stops.
