This is the first southern hike I've done, and it definitely didn't disappoint. There are a ton of different routes in this area. Many different historic sites to check out, and lots of information on the native plants and animals available throughout the trail. Very pretty too!

Great hike! The wildfire burnout area only adds the the beauty of this trail. It was a bit longer than anticipated, but the view of the Rocky Mountains made it fly by. The fire lookout at the top is a great spot to stop for a snack, we were fortunate enough to run into some rangers who let us do some exploring inside.

Super easy hike. Only about 6 miles round trip, and would be easy for families. Spectacular views of Avalanche Creek and Lake.

Did a few elk hunts out here, elevation gain is mild over easy terrain. Very beautiful area!

Super easy trail. Access to Belt Creek the whole length of the trail, crossing the creek in one spot. Makes for great fishing/swimming/cliff jumping/ and hiking in the summer, but can get busy!

Great loops for some snowshoeing or cross country skiing. Easy trails with very little elevation gain.

Great loop! Seemed a little busy, but can get super secluded after the first 10 or so miles. Tons of rangers monitoring the loop, which is extremely helpful since old trails cross the mapped one and it can be easy to get off course. Be sure to carry bear spray and a bell or two on your gear.

Loved this hike! If you arrive before 6am, you're able to park your POV at the trailhead. I had the privilege of meeting a bull moose near the beginning of the trail, but he didn't mind me. The elevation can be a bit of a killer if you're new to CO, but such incredible views make it worth the effort.

Loved this hike! As a Colorado newbie, this was the first hike I did due to it's popularity. It definitely met my expectations. It's a pretty steep climb, but the average hiker shouldn't have any issues. The stone stairs towards the top of the trail are extremely high and narrow, so they may be tricky for the elderly or little ones, but definitely doable. The extra mile hike to the spouting rock is worth it! Parking at the trailhead can be incredibly tricky, but arrive early enough or on a weekday, and you won't have to hike from 4 miles down river.
