One of my all-time favorite hikes but I have to disagree with the "moderate" rating. There is significant trail-braiding that makes it super hard to follow. There are some class 3 sections that are really exposed. If you hike in the summer, you will need at least 4 liters of water and know that shade is almost non-existent on this 14-mile hike. But the arches are worth it . Second-largest collection of natural arches in the world. It's gorgeous. I know there are other, easier ways to the arches but that's not the point The trail as listed and described on this page is awesome, challenging, beautiful, solitary and hot. Really really hot. 4 liters of water, minimum. I also recommend a GPS. I built a couple of cairns to help those who came after. If you successfully find this route, you might think about doing the same.

This is the bike-free alternative to the other trails at Hall Ranch, which is a mecca for bikers. I ride too but sometimes it's nice to get away from that energy. It's also just generally less crowded than most of the trails in BoCo.
We hiked this trail a lot last early spring to get our legs and lungs ready for summer.
There are some nice views but imo it's not as pretty as bitterbrush, or antelope.
If you're hardcore enough you can connect to Buttonrock. We are not that hardcore.

This is a fun place if you want an uber-easy mtn bike ride. No fishing allowed, so the shoreline is cleaner than a lot of other places. This place isn't spectacular but it's sweet and a great picnic spot.

Awesome birding here. We once saw more than 20 bald eagles in one morning. The RR tracks and interstate are a distraction but this is definitely worth hiking.

Dull. So dull in fact that it's almost interesting how dull it is. So I'll say it's impressively dull, which makes it impressive so that would be the opposite of dull so then it can't be dull anymore, so that makes it not impressive so it's impressively dull again and oh never mind. Now my brain hurts It's just dull. Dull and windy .

Two things have really changed this area; a forest fire and the increasing numbers of meth-head squatters. The peak-to-peak corridor has really declined over the years. Too many people and sadly, too many people who leave bags of trash, unattended campfires and generally disrespect the land.

Meh. Just kinda goes up in a straight line and then back down the same straight line. On a bike it's a loose grind up and then a fast but uninteresting down. If you look up "meh" on wikipedia there might be a picture of this trail.

One of my all-time favorite trails. That may be party because of all my awesome memories here but the homestead and the little pond are beyond sweet. It's got more people than it used to, which is a little sad to me but I will always love this place. In the right times of the right years, GG Park has some of the best wildflowers I've ever seen,

This is a nice trail that gets you away from the crowds but note that much of it is on a north-facing slope so it's a lot cooler than most of the rest of the park Also it starts on a downhill so be aware that you will climb back to your car. The parking area is Panorama Point, which is a kinda fun place in itself .

Awesome trail with numerous possibilities to connect and combine with other trails The backside of this trail feels very remote compared to the southern part of the park, which is often crowded. In the right times of the right years, GG Park has some of the best wildflowers I've ever seen,

This is one of the best rides on the Front Range. A true classic. Not an easy ride as there are a few hike-a-bike sections but you will see a great variety of ecosystems and landscapes here. Put this on your bucket list.

I love this trail so much. I think my favorite part is the cascades but the whole thing is so pretty. Nothing steep or challenging here. Just prettiness . It's been getting more popular lately. We actually got turned away last time we went there. During the winter, it's great for snowshoeing and is sometimes completely empty.

Awesome views of the Flatirons. This is a great trail that is deceptively easy at the front Save some energy for the last bit where it gets fairly technical. I would call that last little push a solid class 4.

Every now and then we pick this trail as an alternative to Eagle Wind (on the other side of the road) though generally Eagle Wind is nicer imo. There's a daredevil pilot who hangs out here a lot so you might get to see some of his acrobatics, which is kinda fun.
As is true in this whole area, there are a lot of rattlers here so keep your ears open and your dog close.

This is a sweet little open space that feels like the midwest. If you go across the street to the trails on the west side, there are fewer people.

As city trails go, this is a really good one. Excellent views of Longs Peak, the Indian Peaks, etc. Great birds: blue heron, pelicans, coots, merganzers and a year-round nesting pair of bald eagles. It's a vibrant city park with lots of people having fun fishsing, supping, kayacking, slacklining, hammocking, biking. There's even a short spur up to an old farmstetad museum where you can hang out with goats, ponies, cows and chickens. If you live in the area, make a point of visiting this park .

Aron Arnold reviewed Hall Ranch, Bitterbrush and Nelson Loop Trail

Maybe my favorite Boulder County open space. There are a lot of places where it feels more like plateau country than Front Range. Bike traffic is a big detractor for hikers on the Bitterbrush but it's often worth it due to the awesomeness. Especially love the rock garden area and it's fun to watch the more skilled bikers who can really ride it. A lot of the summer, this trail is a bit too hot. The mule deer here are not particularly afraid of people and especially when they have fawns and will often stand their ground when you meet them on the trail.

Aron Arnold reviewed Eagle Wind Trail

This has long been my favorite close-to-home trail. You almost never completely lose sight of town/civilization but other than that, it feels fairly wild considering. This is a research area for rattlers because there are so many here so be careful with your pooch and keep your ears open at all times. Going clockwise keeps the cities more out of view. Great trail on foot or on bike.

The tread is a little bumpy on a bike. Scenery doesn't get good until you get into the trees. Decent wildflowers some years.
