Challenging and fun trail - I did the Eyebrow Trail up and the AT Down. I did this trail years ago when it was foggy. I still loved the fun trail features like the steel cable and ladder rungs that are necessary when the trail is wet. I hiked this July 4 with my dog. There were only a couple spots that I had to help my golden retriever up, but the rest was easily done by her. I definitely would NOT recommend going down the Eyebrow trail as other have said, especially with a dog. The views from the fire tower give you a great 360 of the mountains! I was so glad my hike this time was clear. It was well worth the effort to see the amazing view! Screw Auger Falls a few miles from the parking lot on RT 26 is a great post-hike stop to walk in the stream and cool off!

Anna Caron reviewed Saddleback Mountain and The Horn via Appalachian Trail

My dad, who is an active retiree but not a hiker, and I did this hike on a partly sunny day. I was glad we did the AT from RT 4 to get to Saddleback instead of the ski trail because I love all the trail features on the AT. I felt it was more interesting even if it was longer. We didn't make it to the horn because of time. Since my dad is not a hiker, it took us nearly 8 hours (not including time at the top to have lunch) to go the total 10.5 miles. I highly recommend this hike. The views were great!

did this hike yesterday with my dog. parked on Rt 154 east of the campground entrance. It took me 3.5 hours to do about 6ish miles. I went counter clockwise on the Canyon Vista Trail (next time I'd do the reverse). to make it longer, I took the red x link trail (roughly 1 mile) down to the green double run trail (roughly 1 mile loop). I recommend doing the green trail counter clockwise so you so the two best falls face on. these falls are well worth the effort the vista at the top is a great opening (just know people can also drive to it and there are restrooms). Moderate level hike that my 1.5 yr golden loved playing in the streams.

Hiked this today. With my dog, it took us 5 hours (not including time at the top of the mountain for lunch). It was a solid 9 miles. Definitely go past the Peekamoose summit huge boulder 40-50 feet ti find the trail on the left for the view that will make the day worth it! I could write more, but cant say it better than the write up on catskill mountaineer and eastcoast hiker websites. long intermediate trail. 1800 ft elevation increase. Well marked!

Hiked from Spruceton road today. No view due to fog. there's only twoish miles that are a slow trudge uphill. the rest is pretty easy (obviously the same two miles on the way back are a little slower when its wet and slippery). Good day hike. My golden retriever and I did the hike in 4 hours (not counting a stop for snacks at the top). if I were to pick a hike from Spruceton Road, I think Hinter is better going counter clockwise, but I cant speak to what views Westkill has. definitely check out Westkill Brewing 1.5 miles on the drive out!

I did this trail with my golden retriever. the first .25 mile is very challenging. once you get 1-1.5 miles in, smooth sailing! The AT and Hemlock Pond trails were a good break from the elevation. Took us just over 3 hours and had a great view at the end to have lunch by the waterfall!
