Did this hike September 20th. The trail was easy to follow all the way. Steady incline all the way up with awesome boulders to cross at one point. A couple areas have loose rocks & dirt so hiking shoes are much better than tennis shoes. Beautiful fall colors & views of the valley. The stream was just a trickle, will be nice to try next year earlier in the season to see the water. Really enjoyed the hike!

Great hike, little more moderate than easy with a steady incline and lots of loose rocks. The lake is beautiful!

I hiked to dog lake then to lake desolation. It ended up being about 10 miles total, I recorded my hike but the gps must not have been working too well, the recording was spotty. It is definitely a moderate hike, not easy. There were two bull moose in lake desolation, very cool!

Absolutely beautiful hike with wildflowers everywhere! Took my 10 yr old niece and we both enjoyed it. Once at the summit we hiked down to Lake Catherine, saw two moose, one female, one male. Took the small trail around the pretty, yet small lake, had fun skipping rocks. Took us about an hour & 1/2 to get there (taking our time) and 40 minutes back.

Great easy quick hike. I loved the historical markers along the way. There's also a little memorial park right across the street from the trail head that's pretty & has more markers with information about the area. My lil dog enjoyed the hike too.
