Really cool trail, it was .5 mi tho, not 2.5.

This one didn't disappoint. Going counter clockwise, the first half follows the creek until you reach a cascade, then ascends a bit and passes through a few glades on the way back.

Andy R reviewed Rocky Falls - Klepzig Mill Trail

Drove 6 hours round trip with 2 cars so we could do the 3.5 mi from the Mill to the Falls in one pass instead of a 7 mi out and back. I don't see what all the fuss is about with this one. It was a pretty trail, and the waterfalls by the mill and and Rocky Falls were stunning, but the walk in between these two points fell short in my opinion.

Go if you want a rugged yet rewarding experience. A few things you should note if you want to hike here:

    1. There is rugged "Jeep trail" to the "trail head." If you have a small car you may want to park out on 511 and walk in.
    2. There is no official trail maintained by any park service. The path to the creek isn't obvious.
    3. Once you get to the creek, there is no trail. There are a few beaten paths in some areas, but you will be choosing your own path most of the time. If you follow a beaten path going out, there is no guarantee you will find it coming back. You will be taking frequent tree twigs to the face.
    4. The pink rock is extremely slippery when wet. Losing your footing can result in a fall onto other jagged rocks or a slide down into the creek.
    5. There are lots of dangerous snakes in the area.

Beautiful waterfall, skeptical about this trail being 2 miles. Still enjoyed the hike, and climbing up behind the waterfall. This is at a state park and another hiker said there are other worthwhile trails the area, but we were at the end of our trip and had to leave.

I did the giant city nature trail, the devil's sand table trail, and the stone wall trail. The giant city nature trail is the one you shouldn't miss.

One of the best day hikes I've taken.

I went once in 2003, but I had forgotten how amazing the place actually is, probably because of the less than stellar pics I took with my old school cheap film camera.

A county park, crowded when the weather is nice, with a few paved bike trails around a series of lakes with some very picturesque views. A separate paved trail connects this park to the Katy trail. 5 stars for what it is, a great place for walking, running, or biking, although this isn't a hiking destination (so I'm giving it 4 stars).

Nice hike through the woods, but that's pretty much it. I definitely wouldn't call this "hard," either. Go if you want a nice walk through the woods close to St. Louis.

This one really struck a chord with me for some reason, and I went on a cloudy day and didn't even get to enjoy the views. I will definitely be back when the sky is clear.

Best route is to start on Johnson trail and take the connector up the bluff to Salt Lick Point trail. Turn right to see the views and walk down the side of the bluff. I went after some rain and there was a lot of mud on a pretty steep grade, so I was very glad to have hiking boots and trekking poles.

I'd say this trail was 25% rugged ozark trail with big rocks and steep climbs, and 75% easy walk through the woods, but the easier parts were also beautiful and serene. The majority of the trail runs parallel to a creek or stream. I did this in March with no bugs and perfect weather.

All of the rugged areas were on the "North Loop," which is a stated 6 mi and would be a great day hike in itself.
