A lovely quick walk route, about an hour to two hours depending on your abilities, this walk takes you a little off the well worn tracks around Harlestone firs and onto lesser well known footpaths across the farmers fields before returning back through the firs, through and back under the railway line then cutting across the fields to Harlestone village where you can have a quick refreshing stop at the lovely Fox and Hounds pub, then back across the fields and firs back to the starting point near the main gates. Carpark is on the main road. Harlestone firs is popular for walking and cycling and this route can be done by both. Enjoy.

It’s an fairly easy walk on flat ground and good pathways all the way round. Good for family’s with small children or push chairs, but if you want something a bit more challenging then it’s maybe not for you. In the summer you get a lot of swarms of flies around the waters edge.
You can park at three locations to complete the loop either at Brixworth country park, Grange Lane in Pitsford village or on the causeway at the Holcot/Brixworth road car park.

Not a bad walk, all fairly easy flat walking. Starts off interesting with the country park and disused railway path which is now a linear wildlife park. Lovely views of rolling fields of Northamptonshire. A little too much walking on roads though for my liking where other footpaths and bridleways could have been used to link it all up and be more adventurous. Therefore I only give it three stars. Took me two hours and was 7.5 miles, 13,900 steps.

Lovely walk staring at Houghton House carpark. The house is worth a visit and not much of a detour.

Easy walking (not sure why this is classed as moderate walk)

Mainly on concrete farm tracks and well signed worn footpaths. A bit on roads which could have been avoided using another footpath to join up.

Lovely walk through “Holly Walk” towards the end of the trail. Took me an hour and a half to complete in dry weather.

Love this walk and it’s higher than its neighbouring Cadair Idris. Park at the small little carpark which is free. I have done this walk both ways round but recommend going anti clockwise which means you have the hard ascent first and the lovely descent down the beautiful valley. Bit boggy in places but there are plenty of boards put down. Whist you’re at the the top walk a little further along the ridge and also bag Erw y Ddafad-ddu and Aran Benllyn before returning back to Aran Fawddwy and completing the loop.

I did this trial with my two children aged 9 and 13 and we found the walk fairly easy and enjoyable. Most of the paths are well laid. Bit of a scramble at the top to the Trig point. Parking is £3 in the national parks carpark.
We did the walk in a easy three hours.
