This was a struggle for me for sure - though I started out clockwise going up the steeper side (as everyone that passed me felt the need to point out!). Provided the most beautiful outlooks. I agree with other posters that the hike was closer to 8 miles. The wildflowers were in full bloom along the entire trail once you got up past the heavily wooded ascend. The horse flies and mosquitoes were only bad at the very, absolute top for about a 10 foot radius; otherwise I didn't come across any bugs at all (though, most don't like me).

    Definitely recommend this hike!

Short, easy. Beautiful sight to see - probably one of my favorites in Jasper overall.

I love this trail. You get river shore, waterfalls, a restaurant, historical sites - it literally has everything. If you're tempted to turn around at the gum tree, don't! Only downfall of this park is how popular it is at ALL times of the day and week/weekend.

The beach along the trail is beautiful with soft, soft sand. Dog friendly. Great view once you get along the shore.

I've hiked all of the parks along the north shore and this one will always be ranked towards the top! The hike to Lookout Mountain is so worth the views you get at the top! I try to make this hike every time I travel north. Even just wading in the river down by it's mouth to the Lake Superior is gorgeous. Also, lots of good hammock hangs over the river!

Beautiful trail. Heavily trafficked though. If you have time, take the trail starting at by the campgrounds and follow the cliffs against Lake Superior and up the side of the river for the best panoramic. Just going through the parking lot and to the falls is all paved and doesn't really count as a hike in my opinion - or as a real visit to what the park as to offer. This park has more than just the main falls; check it all out!

Awesome trail! Devil's Kettle is so mysterious and you just can't stop looking at it - once you take the 100s of stairs to reach it, of course! The stairs are treacherous, but weren't as bad as people had said! Worth the hike if you're able.

It's a long trail, but not overly difficult. Every time you think you're there (hear the water), you're not even close! It provides beautiful outlooks on both the Lake Superior side and the west side over the forest.
