Amanda V reviewed Big Slide Mountain via The Brothers

This was my seventh high peak and so far my favorite. If I can give any advice it would be to do this hike in the fall. I say this because hiking up the brothers provides almost constant views, and the foliage in its peak is absolutely stunning. This hike was moderately hard once over the brothers. Although I think some of this had to do with the mud and water we had to hike through once over the second brother. It made it a little dangerous, especially since we decided to go down via the brothers too instead of the loop trail. if you go RT via the brothers it is 7.3 miles. it took us 5 hours 15 mins with about 25 mins of relaxing and taking pics at the summits.
Also note that we arrived at the garden parking lot at 8am (sunday of Columbus day weekend, so this may have had something to do with it) But the lot was full. so we had to turn around and we parked at the public lot in keene and walked the 1.6 mile road up to the trailhead. another option was the shuttle for $5 a person.

Completed this as part of the firetower challenge. Has to be the easiest hike ive ever done in my life. I wouldn't even call this a hike. you walk up an access road. took us 18 mins round trip and that was with climbing up the tower, taking some pics, and taking our time due to just hiking big slide mt right before this. (our legs were sore haha)

Beautiful day we went on tho, the foliage was gorgeous so the views were nice.

Completed this as part of trying to complete all firetowers. The first .7 miles is EASY walking up a gravel access road. When you get to the crossings you can either go to Black Mt Pond (which will bring you to firetower if you choose), or you can head to the summit first. We chose to head to the summit first. This was 1.8 miles of up hill moderate hiking. You cannot climb the firetower but views from the ground are great. Once you walk up to the firetower to the other side you will see the signs for the Black Mt pond loop. If you choose to do this you will eventually come to two ponds. Very peaceful and pretty, but this isn't a hike. Its literally just walking in the woods. VERY EASY. Kinda boring which is why I only rated this 3 stars. The views at the summit I would rate 4 stars. The loop is 7.3 miles. If you choose to just do firetower you will be hiking 5 miles RT.

We did this hike because we are doing firetower challenge. Short quick hike. Maybe 20 mins to top. No view unless you climb the tower. From there view is great. We brought our pug. She loved it!
