Nice peaceful trail along the lake. Passed a few others out with dogs, but not much traffic. Gets a little hard to follow on some areas near the beach, but as long as you’re following the lake you’re fine. Came across a deer who wasn’t bothered by me at all.

Very nice, well maintained trail. If you go counter clockwise you are going straight up for the first part of it, but then it levels off and descends more gradually on the way back down. Beautiful vistas and several bald eagle sightings when I did this on Labor Day.

Did this hike out/back along Midstate Trail today after having heavy rains all week. The falls were glorious! Both the larger ones were running full, was really a great spot to hang out for a while. Lots of nice fire rings and camping spots along the falls. Grateful for the rope to help scale up and down the steep edges. Water was high and stream crossing was a bit more challenging than I’d imagine it normally is, but it made for an awesome day.

Lots of stream crossings along this trail, which become challenging after several days of rain. If you start near Zindel Park and hike up the trail gets more difficult to follow the further up you go. Nice scenery, lots of stinging nettles in parts.

Nice to get lost among the tall hemlocks for a while. I read reviews before I went, especially about climbing over downed trees, but there were a lot more and they were more difficult than I expected. We did counter clockwise to go up the mountain on the switchbacks. It was a climb but manageable. The decent gets pretty steep and you have to watch your step with so many twigs on the ground it’s easy to lose your footing. Watch for the plane crash at the top, still several pieces of wreckage you will notice on the right. Decent trail but nothing too amazing to make me feel like I need to do it again.

Beautiful views from the top but you really have to work to get there. A good amount of elevation and then it levels off for a bit, then a pretty brutal final climb up to the top. Be warned... several false summits that start to get really discouraging, but it’s worth it when you actually get there. Lots of gnats and mosquitos, and be prepared to walk through tons of spider webs. Good idea to have a hiking pole on the way down, my legs were jello! Only passed one other person, it’s pretty low traffic.

Hiked this as a loop... followed the old LT out along the creek then climbed up to the falls. Very little trace of old blazes but it’s a pretty clear trail. When you intersect with a small (dry) creek bed just past a fire ring, turn right and start climbing uphill to the falls. Once you start seeing the blue blazes you are good to follow up to the rerouted LT. Waterfall was just a small trickle when I went two weeks ago.
