My favorite hike in the state, despite its bad reputation. Don’t act like an idiot and you’ll be fine. Beautiful falls.

Ok trail... be prepared and wear long pants because 75% of the trail is stinging nettles on both sides that are really unavoidable. I wish I would have know this before I went. Also, tons of gnats and mosquitos. The steam crossings can get problematic, resulting in you being soaked from mid-thigh down. I’d rate it as easy, ended up being a little less than 3.5 miles and 430 ft elevation gain.

Beautiful falls and you get close enough to get pretty soaked in the Spring months. Lots of steps and they get really intense just before you reach the top of the fall, but the view from the top is so worth it. If you feel up for it, I definitely recommend continuing to Nevada Fall and returning on the John Muir Trail.

So amazing in the Spring to see the power of the water. Easy trail and allows you to get really close to the base of the falls.

Ally Brion reviewed Vernal and Nevada Falls via the Mist Trail

Definitely hit the trail early, as others have said it gets really crowded. A hundred feet from the trailhead a bobcat walked right by me. The trail and views are phenomenal, especially the rainbows from Vernal Falls. As you ascend up Vernal the steps get pretty crazy, but the view from the top is so worth it. I continued on up to the top of Nevada Falls. Let me tell you, it’s no joke! Quite a work out, but when you get to the top of Nevada Falls you forget all the pain of going up. I opted to descend the John Muir Trail to skip the steps I hiked up. Ended up being about 9.5 miles (from trailhead parking), 2500’ elevation gain, and a little over 5 hours for me... that includes several breaks! Watch your step, take plenty of water, and know your limits and you’ll be fine.

This trail is a must do in Yosemite. The views are absolutely phenomenal for minimal work. It’s especially great in the spring when Yosemite Falls are really roaring.

The biggest recommendation is go early! I got to the tree by about 8:30am and there were just a few others there. I also suggest continuing on to the Congress Trail to see more giant sequoias without the crowds.

Such a beautiful trail that meanders through the forest. You get great views of some big trees and unique groups of several trees together (The Senate and The House). I recommend going very early (before 9am) and you pretty much have the place to yourself. It’s incredibly quiet and peaceful. My only criticism is that the majority of the identifying signs for the trees were down for repair with a sign that they would be back up in spring 2017. (I hiked it 5/18/18, still no signs).

Beautiful vista, definitely will get the heart rate going on the way up. I recommend combining it to Pinnacle for a loop. Oh, and be prepared for lots of rocks.
