this is a nice run with some nature views which you can build up on to even more addt’l mileage depending on where you start in Davis (or if you continue on pole line road). it isn’t a trail per se but the main loop is all on a hardpacked dirt + some gravel so be aware that you will be kicking up some dirt.

really happy to have taken the time to add this trail on to my trip to muir woods...this trail is an offshoot from the main boardwalk trail at the park. it was really peaceful to walk alongside the creek + escape the crowds.

FYI the canopy trail component was closed which is how we tried to access this trail initially so this review is for the shorter loop you can begin to access later on (past cathedral grove)...it was gorgeous nonetheless and I'd love to come back and do this trail again in the fall or next spring.

the first leg is all on boardwalk and then the return has a small incline up to a flat trail for the return. while this hike was more a walk it is magical experience nonetheless to be right next to the towering tall redwoods. be aware that they have a renovation program going on right now in the creek for the coho salmon which was nothing bothersome but got a little loud later in the afternoon

nice stroll + overall a perfect walk for bringing along a small pup. found easy parking at the end of south shore drive and started off with the lakeshore interpretive trail part which was beautiful...also there was access to lots of tiny coves to relax at by the shore + a couple slacklines set-up on sunday afternoon.

saw some folks running the loop but with so many people out and about not sure I'd recommend that over the weekend right now unless it's early in the morning.

really great hike + uphill workout in such a cool historic spot! recommend kicking this hike off via hanging the first right on Lake trail that will lead you into some beautiful redwood groves to begin with (in addition to lots of fun off-trail backwoods to dart around and explore).

we initially started on vineyard but then backtracked and took quarry up instead which was a good call in terms of the forest scenery + less horse poop. it's really magical throughout but the views are especially gorgeous once you start getting to the new fallen bridge + upper fallen bridge part.

to get here we started out coming down poppy and linked up to the hidden falls access trail which was great since you can go down and cool off in the water down below. then at canyon view bridge we hung right onto canyon view trail to link up to the seven pools loop followed by the seven pools vista trail which had great incline to a beautiful lookout. the return is easy via the end of vista that links up to the blue oak loop and then it's a final push to return via poppy trail.

overall I think the conditions are pretty good for this side of the park right now but if you're sensitive to dust like me be aware since you're going to kicking up a lot of red dirt. It was also fun to do a bit of exploring on pond turtle trail which branches off the seven pool loop.

fun trip out to see the superbloom (!) and overall an easy hike with lots of great spots and lighting for nature photography. in addition to phantom falls there are a lot of small waterfalls which are really pretty and the lupine flowers right now smell amazing

this is a nice quick hike out to the look-out at chimney rock. the views + wildflowers are gorgeous. be aware the drive to chimney rock from the main road is a bit tricky since it is essentially one lane with a fair bit of traffic (at least on the weekend).

super pretty loop for a run, bike or walk w/dogs...one of my pup's favorite places to go. FYI from a safety perspective, it gets a little bit abandoned as you get to the artificial lake area just before the equestrian center. also be aware there are frequently leaves, pine needles debris out there as well so be careful on the downhills
