This hike was just ok. The incline going up was more than I exp3cted it to be, which made me second guess the actual distance. Once you get past the small nature/rock garden the path gets over grown. I am 5'8" and grass and weeds were able to get me in the face. got quite a few scratches on my legs. If you're going to do this hike wear pants (unless you don't care about some scratches). I was not impressed with the view from the bunker, but there were some really nice views on the way up Turtle Bay area and the northeast. The incline on the hike was a little difficult for me, but someone with average to good fitness would probably have minimal problems.

This hike is off Kahekili hwy, right behind the guard rail. we are little muddy on the initial incline, but the ground dried out the further I went. a couple steep inclines, but over all pretty easy. Doable for children and dogs. Great views of windward side at the end pillbox. would definitely recommend if you're looking for a short hike.

Did a loop, starting on the upper then to the lower. Was about 2.5 miles. There's a nice view near the beginning of the upper of the Waianae Mountains. for the most part the trail is covered. There were a couple tunnels that you could go through, make sure to have a light with you. the upper track was pretty dry, but the lower was very muddy. it was a nice easy hike, recommended for dogs and children.

Trail is pretty easy. I am not in great shape, and completed the trail with little difficulty. The trail has a couple nice views and you pass through a few areas surrounded by bamboo. If you want a easy hike and don't mind driving up some twisting roads this could be the hike for you. But if you don't do this hike I would say you aren't missing much.

went to this hike on a Saturday. it was cloudy up in the mountains. had to go through a gate guard, he was nice and explained where to go. i recommend you go early since there is limited parking (6 parking spots on the street and a few spots right in front of the yellow gate) started my hike around 11am. it's steep at the beginning and the fact that it was raining on and off made it pretty muddy. I would agree that the hike is a mixture of makapu light house incline and koko head stairs. Although it got cloudier as I got higher, the hike was still beautiful.
don't be fooled. when you read a fenced in tower area you have not reached the summit , there's still about a fourth of a mile left. when I reached the real summit I was surrounded by clouds. there was no view, but it was still pretty cool. at one point the windward side cloud parted a little. I would love to re do this hike a
sometime when it's less cloudy, less muddy and no rain.
in total it took me about 4 hours with a 25min stop at the top.
