Strenuous but beautiful. Did this hike in about 5 hours. Starts at the snow bowl parking lot and during the right time of year you’re walking through a bunch of beautiful wildflowers where the ski lanes usually are. Then you shoot in a thick coniferous forest for some time with some nice switchbacks once you hit the saddle. I heard you can kinda see the Grand Canyon on a clear day. Unfortunately I went during some local fires. But nonetheless it’s a great hike with wonderful plant life.

Unreal. It’s like you’re on a different planet with the multiple colors of sandstone crashing on one another. The hike to the wave is very easy and hardly any elevation. Just make sure you bring plenty of water and id recommend going early in the morning or late in the evening because it gets hooooot there. Only 40 miles north east of vegas so if you’re in town you can make it a quick day trip. Definitely worth it! They have a nice visitor center and they have campgrounds but you can honestly knock out the whole park in less than a day.

January 7-9, 2019. Did this trail in the middle of winter and it was absolutely beautiful. You go from winter conditions with heavy snow down to a desert biome in one day of hiking. Mind boggling! Did this trail in 3 days stopping at cottonwood campground the first night and then going up to the north rim and back down all the way to phantom ranch campground the second night. Definitely make time for ribbon falls which is just before cottonwood campground. Unreal gorgeous waterfall! Impossible to get lost on trail, it is well maintained and very easy to navigate. Such a cool experience. I recommend doing it in winter with the Grand Canyon walls being showered with snow. Adds such a lovely contrast with the red sandstone. Plus there’s hardly anyone in trail.

August 13-16, 2019. Absolutely loved this trail. Went clockwise. Glad I read up on it because counterclockwise is nonstop up hill until Glenn pass. Clockwise is still challenging but very doable. We stopped at woods creek crossing our first night, upper rae lakes second night, sphinx junction on the third.

The mosquitoes are definitely out this time of year. It’s very manageable if you have the right gear.

Views were incredible. Love how you merge with the JMT & PCT for some of the trail. It really gave me an amazing insight on what the sierras have to display.

Absolutely loved this hike. If you’re an experienced hiker this trail is extremely easy to navigate. If you are new to strenuous hikes with little trailheads then it’s best to buy a physical subway trail map at the zion visitor center; it helps tremendously and makes your trip more focused on the wonderful views this hike has to display. The coolest part was seeing ancient dinosaur tracks that lay on a slab of rock half way in the hike! So cool! The red waterfall and actual subway at the rendezvous was mind-blowingly beautiful. Make sure to bring plenty of snacks and plenty of water since it is about a 5-8 hour hike depending on how much time you spend at the subway. Couldn’t have asked for a better hike!
