Alec Birch reviewed Mayhem Gulch Juniper Loop Trail

Pleasant enough. Easy to moderate. Carried my toddler through it. Closer to 4.8 miles according to my garmin.

This was a relatively easy trail to carry my two year old up and down. There weren't any technical areas and only a short stretch of multi use trail so I only had to pass one mountain biker. Really nice views from the top and a pleasant trail all around.
    Well- maintained. Plenty of shade.

The lake is amazing. It is peaceful and unbelievably beautiful. The water from it tastes sweeter than any water I've ever tasted.
The trail is sometimes difficult to follow and isn't very well maintained. Watch closely for small cairns and be cautious you don't follow a false trail.

This is a fun trail with about 2500 ft of elevation gain at the front. It's beautiful and Ruybalid lake is well worth the hike. However, if you're looking to follow the trail past the lake and hook up with "No Name Lake" trail be prepared. The trail after the lake is non-existent. Even with a good map, compass, and GPS we weren't able to find the trail. We ended up bush wacking our way through marshes and thick forest to get to No Name Lake.

bonus: less than a mile up there is a detour to some of the most amazing falls I've ever seen. Definitely take it.

well-maintained. Easy to follow. Moderate is a perfect rating for this trail. I was ethereally morning on a weekday and saw relatively few other people. Very pleasant.

Easy hike into the valley from a fairly busy 4wheel rec area. Some nice panoramic views of collegiate peaks. Not the most scenic area, particularly in early spring before the aspens have bloomed, but once you get into the wilderness area it is very isolated and we weren't sharing the valley with anyone overnight.

Very fun trail. Sees heavy use and lots of dogs, but everyone was friendly and considerate of one another so that wasn't an issue. Dogs can be off leash, but need to be under good voice control.
I did the mount saints/dakota ridge loop. The mount sanitas portion has some fairly technical rock scrambling portions, but everything is fairly easily done if you're in good shape. It was challenging enough to get your blood pumping and work up a sweat, but easily completed in about 2 hours.
