Wasn't expecting to love this one as much as I did. Make sure you take a good flashlight! And someone to go with I wouldn't recommend it alone. You are in a pitch black cave the only light you have is the flashlight that you and those around you have! Views of the cave are beautiful. Take a jacket, take some hiking boots or something with good grips on your soles.

Beautiful views! Can't wait to do it again next year. Take PLENTY of water and snacks refill your water every time you can. Drink more than you think you need. Also, the way down seems like cake and you're wondering why everyone looks miserable walking back up... It's tough! We want to camp out next year.

Amazing trail! We got out there at around 7:30 am and there was already a line for the parking lot-- make sure to take $10/ vehicle (WELL WORTH IT) also I wouldn't recommend going any later than 8 am if you plan on doing the whole trail we ended up doing 8 miles all together. The way up there was amazing we stopped and took way too many pictures and there was people around to where you feel safe. We started making our way back at around 10:20 am and that's when the heat really started coming out and people were barely starting the trail at noon! Much busier in the later hours of the day. I wouldn't do this trail any other time than 8 am. It is also the most beautiful home I have ever done not to mention one of the easiest. It's ranked moderate but it's easy just have to be careful crossing the creek (which you cross around 14 times) make sure you don't step on loose stones. My dog loved it I loved it and I will be doing it again. Take plenty of water you never know when you'll need it!

Done this trail numerous times it's easy and close to home. Definitely a little harder as you get to the steps. Make sure you have plenty of time to come back down. Last time we went out too late took us 2 hours to get to the top (with my dog and friends) and we realized it was going to be too dark by the time we got down so we convinced the Rangers to let us take the tram down with my dog--which isn't allowed for some reason but they let us! Take a lot of water! And again long socks or pants are best

Beautiful hike! Crazy to see how much wildlife and vegetation is on the mountain especially when you come from El Paso and only think we have desert around us. Thankful for my hiking shoes since the trail was still icy and had snow in some parts, definitely helped with the slipping (or not slipping). Beautiful views of the peaks and streams. Kid and dog friendly just make sure you take water and some long socks. Will be doing this again.
