Alyssa Beard reviewed Momyer Creek Trail to Robb's peak

Wow, this one really kicked my butt! The constant rate of incline was perhaps the hardest part, but over all it was a great trail! You start off by crossing the creek and or rocky river bed. Some water was still flowing through a narrow creek and it was ice cold. Then the first 2 miles or so you go in and out if the shade where the terrain has a more desert feel to it. Once in the forest it's got a lot more shade to work with. Then you will cross another creek which is also still flowing well. Then it's another 1.5-2 miles till you reach the fork that sends you on different trails. This was as far as we went. We went about 6.5 miles which was plenty. Also I picked up a small $10 map at the ranger station which was super helpful!

    Dogs are allowed on leash!

Permit is required but it's free! Just call Miller Creek Ranger Station before you head out to make sure they still have permits available for that day. You can pick them up at the station same day.

Adventure pass required sometimes. When we went it wasn't but make sure to ask, the lady said it depends on what's going on up there.

This was a really nice hike, we went late in the morning and found it was a nice cool morning. There is a lot of shade, but no potable water so bring lots of it. Even in the shade it can be pretty hot around mid-day. There was a snake on the trail so just be aware, luckily it was a harmless one, but it is that time of year again. Most of the water in the creek was gone and only a small portion was running. Lots of really nice people along the way. Not much in way of views or exciting scenery, but it was defiantly beautiful.

I have to say I was blown away by the view that this trail gives! All up and then down, we took more breaks on the way down actually. This almost nonexistent winter left most of the trail clear of snow and ice. However the last 0.5 miles had thick ice on it and with one side being a drop off many folks didn't want to go over it. I proceeded to the observatory but my friend stayed behind due to the ice. It's probably only a ten minute climb from where it starts to get bad. Make sure you grab a permit before you go! We didn't get stopped but the ranger station is in town and it's free. Beautiful trail!

This was a really nice hike, it was pretty easy, but jeez was it beautiful! It was pretty chili in the morning, but by late morning it was warming up a lot. I will for sure be going back to this area to hike some more trails. There was also very minimal snow/ice even in the beginning of January.

This was a nice hike, it wasn't overly difficult but not too easy either. The trails are clearly posted and there are many offshoots to pick from. That being said it was heavily traveled but the trails are large enough to make it not feel as crowded. One of the things I was really disappointed to see was how many people didn't pick up their dogs feces. Many, many piles were laying right on the path. So please if you bring your dog make sure to bring bags and pick it up, there are bags even provided throughout the trail and even more trash cans. Be respectful and pick it up so we can continue to bring dogs to this trail. (Note: The feces was not from coyotes.)

This was an interesting hike, but I have to say it was really not my favorite. It was way too busy for my liking. There was literally no point where we were not around other people. The directions to the park also led me to an outlook rather than the trail head. Which was frustrating. There was also an incredibly long line to stand on the potato chip which I knew about but didn't bother waiting for. There was also a good amount of trash. I guess I was just disappointed after all the hype.

I like to take beginner hikers here, because there is a little bit of everything. I know this trail like the back of my hand and can make it as long or short as it needs to be. In the spring and summer ticks run rampant in the tall grass so beware. Also in the summer months the foxtails can cause havoc with dogs so make sure to do a good check for them when you get home. The lake really is more of a view rather than a destination, but the pick-nick table at the top of the hill is a nice place to rest on a hot day. There is not much shade so bring water!

This was such a beautiful hike, my friend and I decided to take the longer rout rather than the loop and went a total of 8.5 miles. The open rolling hills were breath taking and we also got to see a lot of wild life. We saw some deer and coyotes, and of course cows. It was very windy though and at times strong enough to fling off by ball cap, so a light coat might be in order though we managed without. Great hike and not very strenuous.
