This trail is only for experienced hikers who are looking for an off trail, bushwhacking experience. First, the actual trailhead is at Robinson Lake TH, not the random dot down a permanently closed to traffic road. The trail is not maintained, which means the signs are almost non-existent, the trail completely disappears in about 3 or 4 points of the hike, and the downed trees blocking the trail are extensive and seriously slow down your hike. The hike was considerably longer than the posted 7.5 miles one way, between the three of us in our group, we averaged 10.5 miles from Robinson to Fingerboard Prairie. The trail seems a lot steeper than just the 807 ft posted. If you're looking for a downhill hike, start at Fingerboard. We didn't see another living person on the trail, but the few campsites we came across looked like they'd been in use - wouldn't recommend this as a solo hike for a female. (I'm a girl, well accustomed to hiking alone, and this will not be a hike I ever do solo - ladies, hike responsibly on this trail) All the creek beds we came to were totally dry - so bring water. The one lake we walked up to about a 1/4 of the way from the Robinson TH was murky and scummy. That was the first place the trail disappeared, you have to wander out into the lake and walk a couple hundred feet along the lake side to pick the trail back up again. While a beautiful, tree shaded hike, I don't think it's one we'd do again unless the trail was cleared and better signage was placed on the trail.
