Terrain is easy but fitness level required is 8/10. Took us 1 hour 44 mins to go up with lots of stops for photos and water. Took us 40 minutes to jog down. Lovely shady trek with lots of almost overgrown plants strewn along the stairs and occasional fallen trees made this flight of 4287 steps more adventurous.

We took about 4 hours in total. It was a challenging trek for us who are in our 40s and run 8 km twice a week. The ropes were very helping up and down for someone my height at 1.58 cm. Use of upper body strength and all limbs were often required. Don’t be embarrassed to crawl on all fours or to get your clothes dirty. It’s better to be save than sorry. Bring at least 1 liter of water per person. Use of gloves would be helpful for the ropes. Good trekking shoes is a must. Where the sign shows 930 m down and 30 m up, it’s where the ascent becomes challenging and really felt at least an hour for a 30 metre hike. Some changes to the trek here though. the starting point should moved to the carpark right before the Umgawa Adventure Park/Seven Wells Waterfall is, instead of this beach parking area we were directed to on Google Maps. That would save 2.5 km walk under the hot sun and on a road. It is otherwise a nice workout.

Great hike for those who enjoy challenges. First section is an easy incline up paved stairs to the beautiful Seven Wells. From here you enter the jungle with a moderate incline but decent coverage from the sun. Pass the “u-turn” and bare left. From here on out it is a steady incline. Ropes and signage should be present throughout this time. As noted in other comments the last 100m (give or take) is the challenge you have been burning your thighs and calves for. Enjoy the view and the water you brought at the panoramic peak. Take your time as you descend. Enjoy the “swimming” holes of seven wells while looking out at the stunning view and soaking your feet, of course.

Excellent hike with high elevation. The last KM is a very steep, rocky cliff. Follow the rope and you won’t go wrong.
