Did this trail last year in November! Start early as it gets crowded on the chains section! Very strenuous but the most amazing views! Don’t attempt this if you’re scared of heights!

Snagged a wilderness permit and we did the 16 miles down... sleeping overnight at campsite 10. Was amazing!!

Boring. Easy.

Should be listed as moderate.

for the most part this is a fairly easy trail to hike with moderate slopes and comfortable ground conditions. There are a few short reaches that are steeper and rocky with occasional rock outcrops to navigate. Because a lot of the terrain has been burned over in the last twenty(?) years there are a lot of short oaks (brush) that provide cover for the wildlife so we were treated to various viewings of mule deer and coyote. Colors were changing during our late October hike so the oaks were yellow and orange and beautiful.
the destination is reallybwhatbthis hike is ultimately about! what a few of Zion Canyon! Great place for lunch and photography! Our GPS measured the hike as 10.6 miles so this is not a short hike. If you are planning on going all the way to the canyon, you want to plan your start time right! Would do this hike again!

I did this hike on Thursday, Nov 8. I started around 9 and it took a total of 3 hours. 9 seems like a great time to start as there weren’t that many people around while going up - definitely got crowded while I was coming back, I did a lot of waiting for lines of people to pass as I was descending.

The hike was very fun. Obviously you have to be smart on this trail but there was no point where I felt like I was in danger. Stay on the correct side of the chains and be sure of your footing.

Don’t make the final push to the summit if you’re having second thoughts. Scouts Lookout has a great view as well.

Don’t feed the chipmunks.

The end is worth it! Very few people with views toward the end and at point that are amazing!

Really pretty short hike. I also climbed up the large rock close to the midpoint for some added interest and elevation gain. Very easy to do several of these short Valley of Fire hikes in a day.

I did this hike in August because Angels Landing was closed. It’s a steady climb of switchbacks with spectacular views. Midway is a slot canyon with shade and a nice stop for photos before continuing to the summit. The temperature was reaching the 90s. Take 2-3 liters of water and snacks. I arrived at the summit at lunch and it was very crowded. I found a relaxing spot to enjoy the views over Angels Landing and watch the tourists taking pics and face timing friends. Round trip was aprox 4 hours. Fantastic hike!

Did this trail the other day. Started the trail at noon and finished right before 3pm. I wasn’t sure what to expect from a crowd perspective, but there seemed to be more people leaving then going up. This is a tough trail that kicked my butt! I did the observation trail in the AM and this one right after, so I was a little more exhausted for this trail than I would have liked to be. Def worth doing at least once!

Great hike!! Did this hike a couple days ago and the weather was perfect! Started right before 8 am and finished right under 4 hours. Spent about 20 min at the top. Was only 2 other people up there. Amazing views! Glad we did the hike when we did before it warmed up. The second set of switchbacks was tougher than the first. As soon as we finished this hike we went and did Angels Landing. I thought this hike was better and is def my favorite in the park!

Easy walk even in the sand. Went all the way to the end to the Fire Canyon overlook. Lots to see and enjoy!

Go early like I did to avoid major crowds. First shuttle is at 7 a.m. If you consider yourself a hiker you should do this at least once. Not as scary as I was told it's easy to feel safe and stable in my opinion during the part with exposed cliffs and chains to hold on to. Gorgeous views most of the way and the colors were turning with the best view of the hike at the summit. Hope I can go back and do this again sooner then later

Awesome hiking take good hiking shoes and water.

Cool and nice. Water is very urgent and fast. Fell down a couple times.

Great hike, well maintained. Bring plenty of water as this is strenuous. I am scared of heights, but the trail is sturdy so I did not have any difficulties with the drop offs at points. Bring a pair of hiking poles!!!!

Amazing hike. Bring lots of water. Views going up and at the summit are spectacular. Strenuous with the switchbacks but absolutely worth it!!!!

I used to look forward to gambling and drinking when I go to Vegas. Now, I look forward to a day trip to Zion to hike Angels Landing and the many other available trails. The views and experience will take your breath away. Not for out-of-shape folks or those who are fearful of heights.

Another incredible hike in Zion. The hike has significant elevation gain virtually all the way to the viewpoint. There’s no shortage of awe inspiring views the entire trip. My only tip, is from the view point, follow the cliff line clock wise for a bit. The views are just as impressive looking down the canyon at the Temple of Sinawava but there’s no one there.

Hiked this yesterday starting at around 3:30pm. Took us about an hour to get to the base before the chains, going pretty fast bc we wanted to reach the top for sunset. This first part is a cemented path. The second part is all rocks with chains to the peak. Chains were really fun going up if you love the adrenaline rush. One of the best hikes I’ve done in a while. And especially beautiful when the sunset makes the entire mountain glow pink. Make sure to bring headlamps!

An amazing hike. The incline is intense and the switchbacks are gnarly, but it’s all worth it for the amazing view.

Our first hike in Zion didn’t disappoint. Incredible views from the top. I can appreciate the descriptions of how exposed it is, but there are lots of chains to help guide you along.

Stellar. Only word to describe it. We did this hike a few days ago. Glad we did it then, it was busy but judging by the cars the weekend would have been jammed... My wife and 11 year old son stayed back after the first pitch of chains. My 14 year old daughters and I went on to the top. They did awesome and it was totally worth it!!

Hiking in the morning was amazing. The fall air was cool still and less people were on the trail first thing in the morning. Totally worth it!

I did the bowl of fire trail in its entirety and then some. It took 7.5 hours. The trail was filled with all that a sportsman can handle. Note: you have to be in great shape to do this trail. The trail starts moderately easy but then it gets challenging. Have gloves handy. There are hills, mountains; the open desert, valleys and amazing sandstone rock formations. What a view! Important: please note that the trail disappears once you go down to the valley. You will need your GPS on. Alert: turn on your GPS from home and leave it on. You will lose reception well before you get to your hike location and then you will not be able to navigate your way. Have a power bank for your phone. EXTRA EXTRA!!! I was nearly attacked by a big bird. Not fun. I came face to face with a coiled rattle snake which was about 4 feet and I was within 8 feet from it. It was about to attack but I ran a few feet to create distance and it also disappeared. They shake the end of their tails when you're close so you'll always know if they're around. Please don't let that scare you. Enjoy the trail. Have fun. Take water with you and above all, be safe.

Great trail! Amazing views! Can be pretty busy. Plan when you go taking in day and time of year into consideration. If you go on a Saturday in July you’re going to be face to butt all day.
