Zion National Park Map

3 friends and I hiked this one after a harder hike. Beautiful views leading up to it, but the pools themselves were alright. It was cooler at the top so we cooled off then headed back. Moderately challenging because of all the rocks on the trail, but worth it!

We went after an overnight snow storm. The snow was melting and the water volume was up because of it. The falls between the middle and lower pools had three different falls, with quite a bit of water volume. The upper falls was simply amazing. When you tried to stand by the upper pool, you were getting drenched, it felt like it was creating its own wind, and you felt very chilled.

This trail had way to many people on it for me to give it more than 4 stars. It was a true traffic jam at times between the middle falls and the upper fallls.

This is a very short trail, but it goes to an interesting phenomenon in the park. I read that the water that weeps from the wall started it's journey about 12,000 years ago. It has worked it's way down through the sandstone until it hits a layer it can not penetrate and so it comes out of the wall. There are some great views of Angels Landing and down the valley. Worth a quick detour.

This trail is very heavily trafficked trail that leads to the start of the lower narrows. It is a nice walk along the Virgin river but is built for the high traffic so you are walking on concrete or pavement most of the way up. We had great views of the waterfall on our hiking day because it has snowed the night before and the snow was melting.

This was a beautiful outlook spot! Really easy hike for my two and seven year old. A little steep but short. The color of the rocks when the sun was lower in the sky was gorgeous and the sun shone on the canyon that late so it wasn’t too cold of a hike. Seeing the water deep out of the rocks and shower down on us was fun and my kids loved it!

Super easy. Awesome hike with a great view at the end...although it was windy when we went so it got a little chilly up at the top.

Awesome hike...only able to go about .25 miles in the river because of some rain but it was just stunning.

Easy hike , beautiful when we went, three waterfalls overhead so amazing

I actually liked the view here better than Angels Landing. And it wasn’t as crowded.

Super short trail but mostly upward. Some drop offs on the side but only once or twice. Great place to watch the sunset but get there early for a good spot if you plan on takin g pictures. Would definitely do again.

I’d imagine this hike is a lot prettier in the summer with more vegetation. The trail up is pretty and you get to see the falls that come from the pools above (falls isn’t the right word its more line streams that run off the side of the rocks). I’m definitely glad I did it but on my next visit I plan on choosing new hikes to explore instead of this one.

Trail is easy to get to a flat. I would recommend going early in the morning. It was quiet and serine walking through the water and having the canyon walls shooting up around us. Despite going the first week of March after we had turned around to head back around 10:30 there were numerous louder groups coming through so we were glad we had gone earlier.

We brought our own waders to go in the river, and we had no issues with the cold water. However, our feet were a bit sore when we were done. Would have been nice to have the water hiking shoes like the ones they rent out. Beautiful views, and when we started as the sun was rising there was no one else on the trail yet.

We took our family of 5, and my husband walking with a Flexleg due to an injury and it was beautiful. Family/leg disability friendly.

Pretty good views and definitely a must do if you come to Zion...however, do not attempt after doing angels landing

Rent the gear!!!! It is well worth the money if you want to get past 2 steps in the river. The views are spectacular and so different than other hikes. Be prepared for extremely slippery rocks underneath you that you can’t see. Start early!!!! Beat the crowds. We went in march and took the first 7:00am shuttle.

Great short hike with a nice view at the end. Very busy, however.

Super easy. We went later in the evening and sat under the rock. It was like sitting on a porch on a rainy day watching the sun go down. Very peaceful

Great hike - we had 5 little ones (ages 5-7) in tow and there are some mildly hairy parts but overall the entire group loved the hike and the views!

This was a great easy first day hike and introduction to Zion. We went there in march in the late afternoon and the weather was fantastic. We also did it as a loop - took the grotto trailhead, then the kayenta trail that connects you to the emerald pools. We went to all 3 pools and the upper was the most spectacular at this time of year. We took the emerald trail back down to the lodge. I highly suggest doing this loop as the scenery on the kayenta was great and way better than just the emerald pools trail. Thank you to all who mentioned doing this loop!!!

Such a great hike! Not too difficult, beautiful terrain, spectacular views, good for kids (maybe 7 and up). Don't miss the parking lot! If you're approaching from the west....turn right immediately out of the tunnel! It's a little difficult to turn around if you miss it and you can't get into the lot if going the other direction; you'll have to park along the narrow road. Shade is scarce so go in the morning if it's summer.

Super easy trail. First hike we did in Zion in October 2017. Views are astounding.

Incredible. Completed in October and only wore wading boots (they were my Orvis fly fishing boots) and was comfortable. Feet got a little chilly, but warmed up on the walk back to the Grotto station. One of the coolest things I’ve ever done, hands down.

I was not overwhelmed with this trail. Being the beginning of March there was no real water flow, but the canyon walls were pretty as were the few views of the park. Very very busy, and I did it in the morning. Probably wouldn’t do it again, but I am glad I can say I did it. Suitable for all ages!

Great easy trek if you are visiting Zion in the off season and still want to get a great vista without the snow climbing. Very easy hike in about half a mile with a fun bridge to cross and a jaw dropping scenery once you reach the end. It’s about a mile round trip, good easy activity.
