Lots of switchbacks, approx 30. But the view of the canyon at the end was worth it.

Our family loved this hike. We have 4 kids, from 12-3 and they all had a great time. It kind of has it all: slot canyons, places to explore, a tunnel, water to splash in and heiroglyphs...we even saw a large herd of Bighorn Sheep above us. All of this in just a mile or two. After parking at the two port-o-potties (.8 miles after second tunnel was perfectly accurate), we headed east and down the hill into the wash. We walked mostly east for probably 1/2 mile before it turned north, then it wound east again. Right after we started heading east again, we noticed a trail(ish) heading north and didn’t have to go far to see the tunnel that took us under the road. We could’ve kept going east though and I’m sure that would’ve been fun too. Turning north to go under the bridge took us past the heiroglyphs (along red cliff wall) and up (there’s a large curved, smooth rock you have to scale) to the pools. Such a fun, diverse and beautiful area to explore and we didn’t have to share it with anyone!

Heavily trafficked; however the view at the end and near the end is awe-inspiring

Just walked passed this section today Nov 17 2018 and it is closed due to rock fall. You can keep going to the observation point thou.

very nice trail. only saw 1 other family.

Short hike with a beautifully groomed trail. Waterfall was dead when we passed through but totally worth the hike!

I read that the rock fall was in the chains section. My question is can you hike up until this section and stop? Love this part of the trail and will be there November 19! I assume you can at least get to the trail split to observation point but I would like to continue to the right direction before the “chains.”

Short hike, but views are fantastic. Plus, the car ride up to and through the tunnel is worth doing by itself. If you’re going through the park, you’ll need a pass.

Gorgeous view! Don’t let the beginning climb scare you off, it’s totally doable.

The Park map calls this a moderate trail. There are rails throughout to help so to frequent hikers, this would be considered easy. There is a small wood bridge so if you have a fear of heights, probably not the best trail for you. The view is definitely beautiful all throughout though!

Great! Especially since it had rained and there were many. many pools of water large and small. If you walk down from the parking area and follow the wash east, you are in the wash you will walk up. Today there were maples and oaks showing off their fall colors (beautiful). The wash goes through a tunnel under the road avoiding having to walk along the road. You do need to clamber up a bit, but that's what this one is all about. We met only 5 other groups. Considering how many folks were in the park, that was just about as good as one can expect.

Nice trail. I would rate the hike Easy/Moderate. Very narrow at one point. Lots of great views.

I hope it opens back up soon. I hiked it in June of 2017. This is one of my favorite short hikes I’ve done.

All switchbacks. Those with a fear of heights may have difficulty at the top. Chains for the majority of the top, but a few spots where there are none, which makes for a more interesting time. Solid hike and not very far at all. Poles may have helped the knees on the descent.

Fun easy hike with great views! A must do if you’re coming past the tunnel on the north side

Great hike! No crowds, lots of water filled pools, as we just had three days of rainy weather! Only saw one tad pole, might be too late in the season. We did continue up the canyon until it got really difficult. Only saw two couples on our way out. Fun slick rock walking, not much of a defined trail to follow, some slot canyon walking, really cool.

The wait time to the shuttle was around 20mins and its awesome, the shuttle stops and many places and you can start your hikes, if you dont have time and just wanna see few viewing points this shuttle is the best way.

Exactly what it said in the reviews! The falls were dry but still super fun hike, you can climb in the cave where the falls come out when they're dry and look down there, that was pretty cool!

we thought this was the best of the shorter moderate trails. lots to see all the way. it's a popular home so go in early morning since many parts of the trail are too narrow for two way traffic. views along top third of the trail were spectacular!

Got to the parking lot before sunrise and we were the third car there. On return the lot was full. Get there early. Great hike with wonderful rock formations along the trail and super views at the end. Starts a little steep but flattens quickly. We got to the view point just as the canyon was beginning to glow with the sunrise. There is some exposure but with a little precaution you should be fine

Beautiful hike. Make sure you hike to the end of the trail and see the funky water carved “circle room”.

Great National Park.
