Great moderate hike. The loop trail at the top is especially fun - relatively flat with great views.

Hold on to the chain!

Hiked it on 12/12. Great weather, snow and ice all along the trail out to Observation Point. Climbed Observation Point from the floor back in September and wanted to try this route. Glad we rented a Jeep and definitely needed a 4x4 to get to the trail head. Maybe saw three people total at Observation Pt. Great weather and amazing views as always.

A series of switchbacks will guide you up to stunning panoramic views of the area! Expect to see many mule deer too.

Not an experienced hiker and this trail was a perfect challenge. Took us around an hour and 50mins to complete. We went Dec 12th and there was a little mud in higher elevation, a little slippery. Loop is shorter than we thought, you can skip this and still see watchman point overlook.

Great easy hike. We ended up making it in 1 hour and 40 Mins out and back. Definitely recommend for a quick beautiful walk by the river

My favorite hike in Zion. Not a lot of trail markers and in the last half mile or so along the rim the trail isn't very defined. Download the map and be sure to take a backup paper map.

This hike is out of the main canyon and has excellent views. Combined with Deertrap it makes for an incredible day of hiking.

There aren't many trail markers in Zion wilderness so be sure to download and have a paper map for backup and make note that stave spring is off east rim trail but sometimes it isn't flowing. Check at the park ranger station beforehand!

Perfect hike for after you've done Angel's Landing in the morning. Easy out and back trail with beautiful up canyon views. Do yourself a favor and take the dry creek bed "shortcut" on your way back to the Visitor's Center.

Pretty trail with decent elevation gain. I went on a rainy, misty day, so I didn’t quite get the views. But it was still a nice hike. Easy to follow and a good workout for a shorter hike.

Nice walk up to a watchman point but lower down viewpoint than many of the others in Zion but still get some good views. Easy trail to follow and fairly well trafficked. Would recommend if you want a nice moderate walk in Zion but not life changing.

Peaceful hike at the end of the day. We did it in the evening and were given quite the show by Zion. The sun setting on the Watchman Mt was beautiful.

Easy, paved walk in Zion National Park that goes along the river. Pretty views. There are lots of better trails in Zion, but this is the only one that allows dogs, so it’s the best trail for us dog lovers!

last min hike to see the sunset. im glad i did it!

Spectacular even on a cool November day!

Just walked passed this section today Nov 17 2018 and it is closed due to rock fall. You can keep going to the observation point thou.

Did Observation Point, then more on the East Rim trail to Cable Mountain. Really great views, loved it!

Pleasant, easy hike through some of the most beautiful scenery of Zion.

Great hike as it showed just how varied and beautiful the landscape is in Zion National Park. I would rate easy-moderate. Don’t forget to take some of the side trails to the canyon rim on your way up and back
Saw very few people on the East Mesa part but the final approach and point are busy.

for the most part this is a fairly easy trail to hike with moderate slopes and comfortable ground conditions. There are a few short reaches that are steeper and rocky with occasional rock outcrops to navigate. Because a lot of the terrain has been burned over in the last twenty(?) years there are a lot of short oaks (brush) that provide cover for the wildlife so we were treated to various viewings of mule deer and coyote. Colors were changing during our late October hike so the oaks were yellow and orange and beautiful.
the destination is reallybwhatbthis hike is ultimately about! what a few of Zion Canyon! Great place for lunch and photography! Our GPS measured the hike as 10.6 miles so this is not a short hike. If you are planning on going all the way to the canyon, you want to plan your start time right! Would do this hike again!

I would def consider this a walk instead of a hike. It’s such a lovely walk though! So peaceful to do in the evenings or mornings. It was a great cool down after a day of hiking other trails. Saw lots of deer and the views are great!

I read that the rock fall was in the chains section. My question is can you hike up until this section and stop? Love this part of the trail and will be there November 19! I assume you can at least get to the trail split to observation point but I would like to continue to the right direction before the “chains.”

A lovely, gentle hike with drop dead gorgeous views all around! Follows the Virgin River, and crosses over it over bridges several times. A great warm up or cool down hike, or if you are just in the mood for something chill! There are several places with river access, and I enjoyed soaking my feet in the icy water after a longer hike earlier. Enjoy!

Such a fun trail!! Well graded, great views, lots of interesting rocks and a variety of vegetation.

Great hike, great views.

More of a “walk” than a hike. Flat and paved pretty much the whole way. But just like every other part of Zion, there are some great views.

Awesome scramble with an amazing view at the top. We followed a route description that roughly followed the GPS route mapped here. No technical climbing gear is required if you follow this route. The scrambling was rowdy at times (class 3-4) but never felt overly dangerous. Some of the climbing was up sturdy boulders and some was up steep slopes of sand and small rocks that were crumbling below us. After climbing the final "chimney" of the rock face, you reach a lovely flat plateau with petroglyphs before scrambling up the final few hundred feet to the summit itself. The view is incredible, with West Temple so close you could practically touch it. With a lengthy break at the summit and a relatively leisurely pace, the whole day took about 9 hours from the Chinle trailhead.
