HikingGreat!

Excellent hike for those with no fear of heights. Not worth it if you are a couch potato with no cardiovascular fitness at all. Saw a few people complaining before they even got to the part where you have to pull up on chains to climb so don’t try if you have fear of heights or just unfit. Besides that it was awesome.

Amazing trail! Not scary at all! All these reviews freaked me out but honestly it’s not bad at all the chains are safe. The parts that don’t have chains you don’t need them. The views are amazing from the top and worth it. DONT TURN AROUND! It’s amazing.

Paved Switchbacks up, then the infamous chain. Go early (aka sunrise). It was a cluster trying to go up Angel’s Landing as it’s one path and everyone’s gripping on to the chains for dear life and you need to wait for people to pass.

Absolutely gorgeous views! Wasn’t too busy on a Monday morning. Wasn’t as scary as I thought it would be! Worth the last half mile.

I did the entire thing but it stopped recording I guess. Definitely go early bc it gets busy in the afternoon so you’ll end up stopping/getting held up. The first part is paved switchbacks. It’s definitely challenging but physically not too demanding (there were some kids). Mentally if you’re afraid of heights maybe don’t do the chain part. The weather was beautiful, I actually overdressed warm, but gloves are helpful for the cold chain/climbing rocks :) definitely do it!

Amazing hike. Amazing views. No snow or ice today. Lots of hand holds and steps. There were less chains than I thought I had read but plenty enough and were very useful especially during a part where there were no steps and you had to pull yourself up. Not the hardest hike ever due to the chains and sandstone steps. Make sure to take your time. We headed on the trail at 8am, hung out for a bit and prob didn’t start going up until 10:30. There were plenty of people going up and down but we made it safely. Going down was the scary part for me but again, the chains were basically my best friend. Also we brought gloves with grips which were very helpful. Get to the top, hang out, eat some snacks and snap some pics. I didn’t think I could do it from reading some of the reviews, but it was definitely doable and I am so happy to have made it to the top!

I was here late December for the second time ever but first time with snow on the trail along the chains. I had only my hiking shoes, which are great on regular terrain w/out ice. Going up isn't a problem, but coming back down the chains on the packed patches of snow was very scary. Constantly was afraid of sliding off of the cliffs. I do not recommend doing the chains when there's snow. Stunning hike and views otherwise.

HikingFeeGreat!

Start time should definitely be early morning, when I got all the way to the top it was a bit of a wait to get down bc here and there large groups were making their way up. It was pretty cold so bundle up, at the last 15 min of jume clouds rolled in and it started to sprinkle. Although it was rated as a hard hike, I really didn’t think it was extremely tiring. Where the chain begins seemed easier than I thought thank goodness. I feared it was narrow or slippery but it was very secure due to stair like indents on the rocks. It was a BEAUTIFUL view I do recommend going aaaaall the way up the chain it gets flat at the top sat there for a good few minutes to soak it all in. Definitely RECOMMEND WEARING GLOVES, besides Covid lol, it was VERY cold and the chain was freeezing i bought mine at a gas station up the way they had grip on them so it was helpful when climbing lol Definitely will be back soon to explore more of Zion

I thought I’d be good with this but I wasn’t. The trail itself was beautiful and the views amazing. I thought the actual chain part was more steps and the first part is rock slab. I got up the first set of chains but the next part was slanted rock with no chains and I freaked out since you’d literally slide into the canyon. Tried to turn around and was stuck gripping the rocks until the next person came up, which felt like forever. THANK YOU to the sweet couple from LA! I hope your GoPro footage is excellent! This is definitely more mental than about being fit...I’ve done Kilimanjaro and a bunch of marathons but it got to my head. I’m usually okay with heights but am not super confident in my footing on rocks so I chose to cut it short. Be smart about whether to continue!

Second time chickening out on the chain near the top of Angels Landing. It didn’t help that a man fell from the route the day before. Nevertheless, this is a spectacular hike…highly recommended.

Beginning is pretty hard with the switchbacks which go all the way up til the chains. Chain part was a little scary going up. Less scary going down. Recommend going as early as possible because it does get busy going down even in the morning which causes traffic jams on the chains. View was beautiful at the top. Still a little scary if you don’t do well with heights

This is definitely a HARD hike. I am scared of heights and the chains weren’t bad at all, but the beginning of the hike going up the switchbacks is STRENUOUS. Also, get there early. We got there at 7am and it was perfect. So crowded on our way down... get there early!!!! Heard so many people say they struggled with parking.

Unreal hike. Highly recommend starting before sunrise. There were only a few of us up there after starting at 6am and SO many people on the way down.

Hiked 1/16/21. It was gorgeous and not crowded. We stayed at Zion Lodge so we could drive our car in and the trailhead was only a 15 min walk from our rooms. Recommend this to avoid the crowds.

Hiked on a Thursday, got prime parking at around 6:30am. Nowhere near as bad as videos make it look. I’m afraid of heights and was just fine with the chains.

Free of snow and ice currently (2/18/2021), the trail really isn’t terrible (as long as you’re not afraid of heights). Seems like the greatest danger is more related to the people - hike early to avoid them (sunrise). Saw California Condors.

Amazing hike and amazing views throughout. No snow or ice. We left at 620am and were the second people to the top at 720am. Definitely worth the climb. More mentally challenging than physically - and totally worth it!
