A very relaxing hike. The 5 mile distance will give you a nice exercise.

Coming down is harder than getting to the top. Recommend completing north, saddle and south in one shot.

You hike up Cowls Mountains and off to the side at the top you proceed to Pyles. Take plenty of water. Get there early because parking can be limited and turn wheels to curb. It took 2 hours and 23 minutes to do both hikes.

Gorgeous. Go at low tide and spend plenty of time at the tide pools.

The views are amazing. I don't think it was a mile.

Loved this trail! One of 5 of the 5 peak challenge and my favorite. Views are great, not as crowded, challenging, great workout!

Great trail for a quick hike and a great view of San Diego. Bring water, it’s hot.

Trail head is non existent, the best part was on the south side of the tracks which was hard to find. I only found it after a biker showed me where it was but construction there limits truly enjoying all of it. The best part is off of Gennesee south side of tracks otherwise you may end up on the north side and miss it due to the tracks. Plenty of wild flowers even white poppies?

My favorite of the 5 Peaks!

Very pleasant, shady, lots of birds. Trail is wide and smooth.

A nice hike showcasing the rugged beauty of San Diego’s cliffs. It’s gorgeous!! The trail is has steps built into the steeper slopes. Parts of the areas you can explore are dangerous, especially with little ones - I felt that I had to be very attentive and careful with my kids. It’s a pretty short trail, but you can also drive up to the lighthouse parking lot and walk the Bayside Trail or the shorter panoramic trails around the lighthouse. There is an entrance fee of $15 per car (good for one week), but $30 gets you an annual pass to this park. If you’re military, you can get a free annual pass for all the National Parks here.

Super easy trail to either walk or bike. Pathways are plenty wide for most of the trail, but be courteous of walkers if you're biking. Likewise, don't hog the trail if you're in a group. Parking is usually plentiful, and there are a lot of place to have a meal afterwards nearby.

Since the ranger station was built on corner of Mercy Rd. and Black Mountain Rd. the trail head is located just east of the ranger station on Mercy Rd. This is a great ride but be careful there are spots with loose dirt where your tires can wash out on corners.

It’s a very pretty trail around the lake. It’s completely flat the entire route. It can be very busy on the weekends, so the earlier you start, the better

Not really a hike. One mile but it is very cool looking. If you go in the winter I guess the low tide is during the day hours so you can get to more of the cool places. Nice and relaxing. Carry some snacks and have a picnic on the shore. Very relaxing. You can bring your fur babies too.

One of the best mission trails hikes. That stair climb is a challenge but it’s very rewarding and great views. This says moderate and overall probably is but the stair climb is one of the hardest in the mission trails area in my opinion. Take your time and be safe as always!

Amazing ! It’s a must

You can get solitude here even though it's next to one of the most popular hikes in SD. Lots of greenery that you feel like you're not in the neighborhood.

This trail was amazing and the view was worth the hard climb! It was the perfect weather yesterday as well!

The trail has a paved path and also a regular trail path. Gets too crowded after 9 on weekends.

Nice but so short it’s almost pointless

Never disappoints!

The two interesting things about this climb for me were the view of the city, and the interface of Park land with the surrounding development. I encountered a handful of mountain bikers which is fine, but one just needs to be aware they are coming pretty fast.

The last part is the best.

Must do south and north together ,since there so close to each other.

Great little urban hike hidden right in Hillcrest & Bankers Hill. I try to do this every now and again. Usually lightly trafficked
