Gorgeous alpine scenery with just a short hike. The flowers were still going in late August. The beginning/end of the hike is steep.

Challenging at the beginning, but once you make it past the initial incline it’s a very enjoyable hike. The view at the end is beautiful and there are some obstacles along the way that make it more enjoyable. Very dog friendly too.

Came here early September. The trail was mostly dry. Easy stroll around the very beautiful Tenaya lake. Encountered few people on the trail. Great hike to take older family members onto. Can spend sometime on the pristine beach/in water when weather is warm.

Great hike and was able to take the dog with us. She did great and enjoyed the shallow creeks. Awesome view at the end of the trail.

Nice view everywhere

Tenaya Lake trail has beautiful views of stone mountains and snow-capped mountains well into July. Be prepared to walk through about a foot of water in the beginning and end of the trail. The only downside to this trail is that the view never seemed to change but since the view was so grand it didn’t seem to bother me much.

The strenuous hike up to Fern Lake is very rewarding. Fern Lake is extremely beautiful all year round, with beautiful mountains surrounding the lake and several great beach spots to relax and have a snack/meal. The trail is a constant incline until you get to the Yost-Fern fork, after that it is extremely steep. Trekking poles and good boots are highly recommended. Dogs are great for this trail if they are trail trained.

The trail and views were spectacular! The trail starts out mostly uphill but then after the turn to go to the falls (less than a mile in) it’s pretty flat. There are lots of rocks to navigate, but we still did it in about 2.5 hours at a steady pace and stopping to eat lunch by the falls. We just went today, 12-19-17, and it was perfect! Fortunately, we got it in before the snow! Can’t wait to do it again but I will only go on cooler days as there is not much shade.

By far the greatest hike my girlfriend and I have ever been on. We went on the last weekend that the Tioga Pass was open, no one was on the trailhead. We too the lower lake route. The first mile is the hardest, gaining elevation really fast. We took a few breaks when needed. The rest was fine. I recommend going the end of October/start of November if you want the best view. There was some snow from a recent rain, rivers & waterfalls frozen. I plan on doing this hike again next year.

easy to moderate, Wapama falls was awesome.

Good day hike. We did it with some snow on the trail, which made it a little more challenging.

Absolutely beautiful hike !

I'll only add that the initial 1/2 mi up to the ridge is exceedingly steep and rocky. Especially perilous descending. I'm 73 so that's obviously part of the difficulty. Other than that,. a perfect ramble above timberline. Look for the mule powered windless and watch out for open vertical mine shafts up top.

Wonderful memories revisited and a great workout.
Love being up here in Autumn!

Great views, alpine lakes, and a ghost town. This is one of the best hikes in the Yosemite area.

The trail is amazing when it snows

Just missed the fall colors! But still a beautiful hike. Went mid morning and the weather was cool but perfect for hiking. First mile or so is when you gain the 600 or so elevation and then it is mostly easy and along a stream. Able to accomplish it slowly with a bad knee. Would be great for kids, dogs, and us creakier ones too!

Good

Awesome Trail uphill and through some open brush ground from parking lot about a mile and then your next to the creek outlet from parker lake and then you get to the lake and you can hike around it to the left or right back to the trail you came in on... really beautiful in the fall season suggest going in afternoon and coming back as sun sets its really nice views

Spectacular and definitely difficult. Single track trail took us (in October) to Fern Lake which had cascading fall colors. There is a waterfall at a junction then the work begins getting to the lake.

Well worth it. I have new stem cell knees which I am happy to say have held up nicely. I brought my walking sticks and boy did I use them. Btw of you need help with your knees google Venkatesh Movva in Texas and Oklahoma.

The trail was clear.

It was a strenuous hike.

Definitely recommend this trail to everyone. Went this past Tuesday & the weather was lovely! We even caught a few glimpses of snow. The beginning was a little steep and had me out of breathe but it got much better. The only reason I won’t rate it five stars is due to lack of signs on the way back from the trail. It can be confusing. Boyfriend and I came across a hiker who was lost & we worked together to find our way back on the trail.

Good hike; some (but not many) views along the away but the lake and mountains view at the end are worth it.

This hike was a great afternoon outing. It is pretty steep but certainly doable. The lake is picturesque at the top.

Gorgeous hike, beginning is steep, but worth the short hike
