Awesome views. Great way to take in Yosemite Valley.

Easy and fun hike and amazing 360 degrees view of Yosemite at the end. Loved it!

We walked this trail back in July. It was a pretty quick walk so we decided to go off the regular trail. We went over the rocks and right up to the falls. It was still flowing in July.

Easy, fun, amazing views.

Beautiful trail in the fall, the leaves are falling, crisp air and deer sighting. Relatively easy on both paths, small incline of stone steps but it can be done. Good hike for all ages.

Don’t miss the magnificent views here! And don’t be scared by the 252 feet—the elevation gain is less than that.

Nice hike but only 4 stars as the falls have dried up until snow melt in late spring. I’ll be back then.

Incredible hike! I would do this again although I wouldn't try to be daring due to the recent death that was on the news about the Indian couple Vishnu Viswanath and Meenakshi Moorthy in October 2018. Thinking back, I even walked down inside a fissure that seemed to have solid grounding underneath between the rocks but I would not attempt that again. This place is so remarkable, you can spend hours taking photos.

Always a good trail, family friendly, fantastic perspective of Half Dome.

We went to see the sunrise at glacier point yesterday, and then decided that we would try a hike near by. We caught this trailhead from the Glacier point parking lot. This is a great hike with fantastic views of Half Dome. I especially liked the way the view of Half Dome Changes along the way.

You get a great view of. The Falls before dropping down to the river at the bridge. I imagine that in the springtime, there is much more water. I look forward to hiking it again when the water is flowing.

Short easy paved trail. The waterfall was non-existent this time.

Beautiful morning walk with two bear sightings, both with one cub. Easy trail and only one bottle of water required. We walked from the Upper Pines Campground. Mostly shaded but some sun to warm us as we came back the loop trail.
Highly recommend.

In all honesty, this is nearly as easy as the Taft Point Hike, just slightly longer. I'd suggest doing Taft first, then follow this up in the later afternoon so you can catch the magic hour on the dome itself.

The hike starts from the same point next to the road as Taft Point does. You'll find a porta potty, so go if you need too. You'll also need to bring a bottle of water with you. The trail as a whole is mostly dirt, with some small rocky sections. It isn't flat, but it really climb or a decent either. As you get closer to the Dome, you're gonna wonder, well, how the heck do get up onto that? Well, keep to the trail, it circles back behind the dome and you'll scramble up it from the east side where it's actually pretty gradual climb (you'll need zero rock climbing skills here. You're at one of the highest points in the park and you can see for miles in each and every direction from up here. Soak it in, enjoy it, it's the best and sooo much easier then climbing Half Dome too.

I brought along a flash light for the hike back to my car once the sun went down, great hike.

This is a nice little hike from the road, I did this one first after driving 4+ hours to Yosemite and it was good way to start great weekend. I't just slightly more than a mile each way, so carry a bottle of water with you. It is really neither an up hill or a down hill trail either, nor is flat. It's small section going slightly up or down till you get close to edge, then the last 300+ feet of the trail is downhill till you get Point. Most of the fissures are to the east (right hand side), so take a little time to view these before making your way out to the point. At the point, you will find 2 over looks, one on the east with some old guard rails, and one to the west without guard rails (where the couple fell off a week or two ago). If you're doing this as group, have someone stay at the guard rail overlook with a camera, while your friends visit the other overlook, you'll get great photos here. Take turns too so everyone get's a photo on the west overlook. Of course, don't fall off and ruin your weekend.

The trail back starts off as uphill, but then is just slight up and downs till you're back at the road. While you won't find water here, you will find a set of porta pottys if you need to go.

This is not really a hike. There are several viewpoints that are easily accessible. Everything is paved and secured. There are many tourists present at any time.

The view, for example, of the Half Dome, is still breathtaking!

I always start my trips to Yosemite with this hike, and it’s the perfect warmup to more strenuous ones in the park. When you first arrive at the trailhead, it splits - I recommend taking the dirt path instead of following the road, which is more for the bikers and strollers. This trail is relatively easy and flat. The views once you reach the lake area are gorgeous (and even more stunning in the winter). Most of the crowds stop there, but I like doing the full loop. There are restrooms available too. There’s also plenty of wildlife that still passes through here despite the crowds (including bears and bobcats).

The hike is easy enough and the views are amazing, just stay away from the edge!

Great hike with spectacular views once you're at the top! And don't forget to check out the old dead jeffrey pine, it was a great moment for me up there, thinking of how Ansel Adams took that wonderful photo when the pine was alive. I had Sentinel Dome all to myself, going the end of October early in the morning!

Easy hike and view was amazing!

1 star just so that you notice; views are breath taking and the hike is easy. It's a 5 star hike.

But, I lost 2 of my friends from the edge of the cliff Oct, 2018 - there are no giard rails at the edge and it gets very windy.

Please be careful up there guys!

Loved it! The elevation is 7700-8122 ft. So for me
adjusting to the elevation increased the difficulty.
So I enjoyed it , it was hard for me but I am glad we went to the top! The views are 360 degree of all the peaks in Yosemite Valley.

awesome views, easy hike

This is a moderate hike. The trailhead elevation is at 7700 feet and the top of Sentinel Dome is 8122 feet. The views are spectacular to say the least. At the top of Sentinel Dome you have a 360 degree view of Yosemite. You can see Cathedral Rock, El Capitan, Yosemite Falls, Half Dome and the mountains beyond.
There are areas of the trail were you must pass over rocks but nothing difficult. It is a steep climb to the top of the Dome but not difficult by any means.
If you are not acclimated to the higher elevation take your time in the beginning to adjust to it. We had lots of fun and there a great views along the way.
After seeing the dome there is a trail to Glacier Point if you want to hike there, or you can take another trail to Taft Point which makes a loop back to the parking lot.

Beautiful short walk, sadly no water this time of year.

Amazing panoramic views!

Definitely one of the best bang for your buck hikes in Yosemite. Very short, very little elevation change, and INCREDIBLE views. Good way to start your time in Yosemite, especially if you’re arriving in the afternoon.

Such a fun hike! However, you must always remember in the hiking world, whatever goes down....must come back up! Definitely give yourself double time to crawl out of the trail. My husband and I began this hike around 2:00 pm. We made it down the trail in an hour. Sat at the creek and ate a snack and had some hiker coffee. (Starbucks packet of instant Carmel late....yum) We figured it would take us about 2.5 hours to get back to the car, and we surprised ourselves by doing it in only 2 hours (exactly). We ended the hike with a beautiful view of the sun setting over the mountain behind us giving the Panoramic view a nice pink haze covering. Simply beautiful!

Spectacular view

Awesome and my personal favorite after my friend showed it to me. Better for those trying to get away from the crowds. Descends off the road to the cliff's edge. There are about 5 different bluffs all with views of the canyon. No railing so be careful but it gives you a great sense of scope of the park.

Pretty shady until you get to the cliff's edge and a decently moderate gain on your way back.

Nice walk but unfortunately there was no water. From the videos we’ve seen, that would be amazing. It was still impressive to look at.
