HikingGreat!

This trail was by far the most difficult trail my husband I have ever done, however, we aren’t experts. I will say the views along the way are breathtaking! All of the switchbacks make you work for it though! We went February 24, and there was no snow obstructions.

The trail starts with a series of switchbacks which help you gain elevation. After the switchbacks you will walk for a bit then the switch backs start again until you reach the Columbia Rock viewpoint. The view from here is amazing and worth the hike. I would suggest you keep continuing on the trail where there is minimum uphill and some downhill until you reach the Yosemite upper falls viewpoint. The views from here more than justify this part of the hike. This part of the trail has some snow on the trail(traction device recommended, not necessary). The trail as of Feb 2021 has a tree obstructing the path. I suggest going under the tree to reach the upper falls view point. I would suggest continuing the hike after the viewpoint only with hiking poles and traction devices to your shoes. As of the Feb 2021 the path from here is full of snow and is quite risky.

HikingGreat!

No snow on the trail. Not a ton of shade further up the trail. Was glad to have a hat for sun protection. Poles on the way down are really helpful, no matter your fitness level. There are a lot of worn, smooth rocks that are slippery.

Awesome trail! It was one hell of a hike going up and zig zagging but the views are absolutely breathtaking! We made it in time to experience the Firefall phenomenon! EPIC!

HikingGreat!

Hiked this trail in February 2021, after sunset. This was great : nice views of the valley and Yosemite Falls. I went by Columbia Rock and I kept on walking until the bottom of the fall. It was beautiful. It was challenging because of the snow but you will enjoy it !

Traction devices/poles recommended, snow shoes not needed (as of today). Snowy/icy on the way up in the morning, slushy on the way down. Some technical snow traverses beyond Columbia Rock before the final ascent to the falls. Great views, definitely follow a little further to catch views of upper Yosemite falls.

Pretty hike. Did it in september 2019. Not as crowded as other Yosemite hikes. Beatiful views on the whole national park and we saw a bear too!

Did this hike in the Fall and had a great time! The hike is split into "sprints" meaning that you go extremely uphill for some time, then it flattens out, and then you do another section that is uphill. This made is easier because you could take breaks after each of the sections. Wonderful view of half dome at the top and a perfect place for lunch A guide of what the hike looks like: https://youtu.be/cASw1EctA04.

HikingGreat!

Steep. It’s not as bad as vernal or Nevada falls. Park at camp 4 and walk across the street. Easy trail to follow. It is a stop on the way to upper Yosemite falls. The elevation is quite a bit with gradual switchbacks. Not many places to go off trail most of the way up. Pretty heavily trafficked but less than vernal falls. The rocks are a tad slippery on the way down and poles actually help quite a bit. Mostly shady until the top. Took us 1.5hrs up and 30mins down. No snow at all.
